I think people will be reporting that it's surprisingly smooth because the backgrounds look pre-rendered and not real-time, so it doesn't strain the processing so much, since it only has to process the 3D models of the characters.
The backgrounds are pre-rendered (or handrawn) in exploration, not during combat (watch the video again).
My statement was more an example, therefore I added a " " to my post. I don't know the real fps while the game is running and with how much fps the youtube video is running. But it is always so that people complain about seeing laggy games in videos but forget that the game running on the device has normally more fps than a youtube video. What they see are no lags but missing frames in the video. Correct me if I am wrong...
Glad to hear! And btw., you are absolutely right, Squarezero: all I also want is a well made game with decent depth. To be honest - I was never so excited about a handheld game before as I am with Chaos Rings right now. We have lots of information and screenshots now and this might be my game of the year. Wow, it would be so nice if this comes out today or tomorrow because it is weekend. More time to play. But again, I bet on the next Tuesday for its release.
Handheld? I'd say mobile game as there are many great handheld RPGs out there. The World Ends With You, FF CC: Ring of Fates, Dragon Quest and Zelda (all on DS) to name a few
well Vovin, looks like our wait will end tomorrow the last article has something like this "See you tomorrow " i really hope this will not disappoint me
Didn't the previous one also have 'see you tomorrow'? It just implies they'll be back to tease us a little more tomorrow.
I'd expect it to be nothing less than $8.99 (like Final Fantasy 1 & 2). My guess is $9.99, though I won't be surprised if it's more than that (like Football Manager). Afterall it's a new IP specifically crafted for the iPhone from none other than Square Enix. My only concern is once again how smoothly it plays on iPhone 3G. If it can get 30+fps, I'm happy to pay $10+.
First: if this is really a full-fledged, deep RPG with a lot of content and good gfx, I'll stay with my earlier opinion: between 11.99US$ - 14.99US$ for Chaos Rings. That is also the ammount I would gladly pay for such a game. Second: dev said it will also run on first generation devices, so you should be secure with your 3G. Maybe the gfx engine will fit itself to the system installed on. A good programmed engine always tries to deliver the set minimum fps rate and scales down graphics or animations to reach this goal - a smooth gameplay.
It is about time that quality /quantity compare to the pricing again. I want more of these games and not "the best what I can get for 1.99$". That wouldn't be the best, in my opinion.
Yes, dev said will run on first gen devices, but they did not say it will run SMOOTHLY. +++++++1 I've always said since that thread more than a year ago that I won't mind paying $15 US for a great game with FF-quality. I haven't changed my mind. Football Manager is interesting though. It's $10 US, which usually translates to $13 AUD, but it's $15 AUD!!
i thought that 'see you tomorrow' implies it today LOL anyway it's alreayd sure to come out this month so no need to be worried
