ngmoco is anything but ignorant. they know and understand the moble gaming market better then any other game developer for the iphone to date. eliminate is a perfect example, no other game has loged as many hours. why? because they know what gamers want. all there games have a good replay value. that you can not put a price on. this is a department the idevice lacks....this after all is a new platform, just starting off. all i say, if a company like ngmoco continues what there doing, were going get more great games. so i say keep up the good work.
if you want a console expirence, then sit down and play a ps3 or pc!
moble gaming is transforming! its not going to be the same as other platforms.

I'm not sure why people are getting so worked about freemium. Personally, I don't like it, and I simply don't participate. If you like it, good for you. If you don't, use the time you would've spent playing an ngmoco game for something more constructive. You don't need me to come up with a list, do you?

Ngmoco is just average at best I don't mind what they are doing until the bought freeverse! I don't want them 'polluting' what freeverse is doing with ngmoco's 'average- ness'. And iwas1313 of your idea of understanding the mobile market is ripping a successful social game like farmville and making it suck in comparrison to the real thing then lol at you!

Personally, I'm getting worked up because I feel this is a dubious direction for iPhone gaming to be heading, and it's important to speak out against it. On a more personal level, I get worked up because I don't appreciate attempts at being manipulated and having my intelligence insulted.

I'm with this dude. Yes it's easy just to ignore ngmoco's games, but it's worth speaking out against it in order to try and prevent it becoming a standard among iPhone devs.

Developers are Losing money to theft. This is one way to curb it. And make a games lifespan longer. Don't get upset with the companies when there are tons and tons of people out there that dl games for free without paying. when idevice games are already reasonably cheap when compared to other platforms like it. People spend alot of time and alot of work making these games. Why bother to put out all the effort for someone to take it for free.

Yeah! I bet that iPod could so handle that 1080p action, and all those buttons on the PS3 to fit on the screen!
You should email those people!

To prevent piracy? It's very clear that this freemium model by notgoodmoco is not a piracy measure, I am perfectly at ease with what they did with Rolando 2 At least I still get to keep my game after buying the dlc. Their Temporary purchase model is not a piracy measure but is a meticulous design to milk the uneducated and impatient!

    I just don't get it.

With ngmoco you can play through without paying anything and the only thing it costs you is time which you can spend doing something else and then come back to the game later. ngmoco is clearly going towards the casual gamer market which (in case some of you don't realize) is much much bigger than the hardcore market. They are playing to the iPhone/iPod strength (casual and not hardcore).

You kids don't know how well you have it in today's gaming world. Twenty/thirty years ago the only free games I can remember were spending an afternoon at a friends house playing their board games (that their parents paid for) or running around during recess, playing tag

If you want to prevent it, build a time machine and convince people to stick with the original price points of the App Store when it launched instead of driving the prices of everything down to 99¢. We've backed iPhone developers in to a corner where it is very difficult for them to make money unless they manage to fight their way up to the top of the paid app listing, or are releasing a game based on 20 year old IP that even your grandma recognizes.

how is this not a way to curb piracy? Simple fact, there are thousands and thousands of jailbroken idevices. Many of which are capable of downloading content for free, which would normaly cost money. To say "this is a design to milk the uneducated and impatient" is wrong. Clearly ignorant, and ignors the simple truth and fact of the matter. People who jailbreak steal from everyone.

I know about 10 people who have an ipod/iphone and only one uses a jailbroken device (to pirate apps, sadly). of all the others, only one even knows what jailbreaking is :/

Um, do I need to tell you to go back on your meds? This isn't true.

Newsflash! Jailbreaking is not the same as piracy.

I'm just irritated with people making bold yet misconstrued statements...just a case of the Mondays. Plus, I think it's time to give the nerds of TA a fighting chance. ;)
