It’s a farming game kind of I guess? But still has timers like a freemium game so you basically open it do some things and close it. It’s nice to have unlimited inventory space without the game trying to nickel and dime you. At first I was getting bored by the endless cut scenes but eventually they leave you alone and only come up every so often which I guess is trying to tell you the story. It’s no Stardew Valley but if you like farming games maybe it’s worth a little look although it seems very small and basic. I can’t help but think I hope these devs didn’t get paid as much as some other devs that made actual games and not basically a one screen treadmill. MetaGonzo Well-Known Member May 7, 2009 1,459 271 83 #3 MetaGonzo, Oct 6, 2019 I’m intrigued but I’m stuck as soon as it begins. After the lengthy intro cut scene there’s a tree with a red arrow pointing to it and when I tap it, my character moves toward it and then stops. Further taps do nothing; am I missing something or am I bugged I wonder. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #4 ste86uk, Oct 6, 2019 If that’s your trees at the top of the screen that’s where you’ll be planting crops you tap to collect or tap and drag your finger around. To plant there are little lines on the ground you tap that and pick what to plant and just drag around again. Through all the cutscenes it doesn’t much tell you how to play but it’s pretty easy to figure out if you try. MetaGonzo likes this. It’s an idle, no-p2w, animal lover, tamagotchi like game. It doesn’t compete with Stardew Valley, it’s more of a collector’s guilty pleasure weipeng likes this. idislikejordan Well-Known Member Jan 7, 2018 78 24 8 #7 idislikejordan, Oct 8, 2019 Saw on the reviews in Apple Arcade that confusion existed around what exactly Nightmare Farm is, so I threw together a little video just explaining it. It's from the people who made Neko Atsume and Travel Frog so it has similar mechanics but now with a story and progression. Right at the start the easy thing to miss is that your aim is to make that little dog happy. You can do this by constantly feeding him (like most dogs) and giving him a ball to play with. After a short while things will just start to become available and you'll be off. Oh, you might want to plant a few apples as well. utestme likes this. utestme Member Mar 13, 2017 7 1 3 #9 utestme, Oct 15, 2019 I’m stuck with the game. Playing it every couple of hours, now I have hundreds of objects, I donno which is needed for which, I can’t get the rhythm nor the economics of the game. There’s no wiki anywhere, I wrote to Hit-Point to ask for some support. The learning curve is too abrupt, while it was supposed to be a relaxed game, tamagotchi-like. Now I understand the devs want us to have a masters in their game... Some challenges are cryptic and you don't know what to do to achieve them. No description of food rewards is a huge problem when you unlock dozens of them. You have no idea what items are used by what pets, you don't know the time it will take and you also don't know what you will get for it. At first I though there was a theme for each animal, like a ball for the dog, sea items for the squid, etc. But in the end, it became a total mess after the 4th animal unlocked My strongest disappointment is that you have to concrete goal but the game makes you feels like there is a progression. You have a sort of "main quest" via the challenges and you unlock some small videos but then you don't what this it for. Most idle games give you a sense of advancement and make you want to progression and unlock new things. In Tamagotchi style games, you take care of your only pet but here you have many of them and apart from playing or eating certain items to give you other ones, I don't see a point. For me, this game would more classify as a Merging game to be honest... Because you have to gather a certain item, to unlock another, which in turn will unlock a higher one, etc. Like the apple that will allow you to get a snack for the dog, who will give you waffles that you will use to buy food for the bear, who will give you honey that you will use for another thing, etc, etc. I don't have a problem with that but if I knew what to get from what that would help me instead of having to remember a chain of events of 10 steps to get a single item. What I do have a problem with however are the timers. I was really surprised to see it in an AppleArcade game but I though it was justified because of the low waiting time. But here some things require you to wait for several hours just to give you 1-3 items. And as you can't do a thing during this time, this game becomes an idle manager that you open every few hours just to click on things without really having an idea of what you do it for. Really a strange game. Peter_Jeftic Active Member Apr 6, 2020 37 5 8 Male #11 Peter_Jeftic, Apr 30, 2020 nice game (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
