Has anyone found out an effective way to progress? Tobi, a word on these would be great becouse the game doesn't describe them enough. 1) Do you extend contracts? Is it always good to do it, or only if you vallue repair points and therefore it would be better to not extend them if you don't have time to play for too long anyway? The 30% gold looks bad, you do 66% extra to get 30% more. 2) How does the boss weakness, for example to plasma weapon, work? Let's say my only good plasma weapon is the long range one which is very hard to aim when you get behind a boss, so what do you do? I haven't tried this, but does the game let you engage a boss without a weapon that is his weakness? The main thing holding me back is the required power level, so I am bassically forced to use weapons that aren't ideal. 3) Talking about required power level, secondary weapons (rockets) and gadgeds don't have it. I have unlocked 3 secondary weapons but I still use the first ones that we've got becouse I can't see how better would the new ones be. It is quite expensive to try it out and find out that the previous ones were as good as the new ones. I unlocked the 2nd and 3rd rockets basically at the same time so I am not sure how do they compare //EDIT: so I've got the manual homing ones becouse they are cheap and they are good 5) I can't remember what do the red partickes around a ship mean and there is no way to find it out in the game now. 6) I am just about building the vossk gunship. The difference between scouts and fighters is 1 vs 2 gadget slots, I hope the gunship actually means something. Like we've got primary weapons in pairs so it could have one pair and 1x 3 of the equiped weapon (or extra gun that fires all the time or an ability to fire both equiped weapons at once). I still haven't built any gadget (just one part for the first one remaining) so the scout class doesn't limit me. And they don't have the power rating so they won't help me with progress so much. Anyways, I build new ships only becouse of the rating, I don't actually want them. The Nivelian scout ship is better than the terran fighter unlocked after it in my opinion. //EDIT: the gunship means absolutelly nothing, it is just like any fighter. And since I don't have any gadgets, I don't care if a ship is scout or anything else
You have to be kidding. I see that you don't need any feedback based on the fact that sou do not reply here, but I'll give it to you anyway. The new rating system SUCKS. I updated my weapons to the max just so I could take out my boss with the vossk gunship. I did so just before the update hit. So now I have double weapon power than it is required and I am forced (which I wasn't before) to build the nivelian fighter. (Edit: so I started building the nivelian fighter and it costed much less gold than I expected - the price of the vossk gunship was much higher and after the update, building costs were increased while upgrade cost decreased) Good thing is that the rockets got rating levels, but why not gadgets? And missing changelog, this one would fit into any game update
Totally agree with you. The new rating system is basically forcing players to spend money on rushing new ships. I think it will be better if the rating cap can be a little bit flexible. i.e. my weapon rating is 500 points above requirement, thus I can have 50 points lower on ship rating. (I am just making up numbers here) Plus another thing about the ship ratings is that while for most of the ships, upgrading an opponent gives you 5 points on ship rating. For some ships such as the vossk gunship "Shamash", one opponent upgrade only increase 2 points. Not sure if it's a bug or it's intentionally designed like that, but that's very frustrating. Another frustration is about the bar charts of weapons. I have 2 pieces of long range weapon, one is a plasma gun at 230 rating and the other is laser beam at 305. The plasma gun's impact bar is maxed and the laser beam has only half. So just looking at the stats it appears that the plasma can do the same amount of damage as the laser, or maybe even higher. But the laser deals a lot, lot more damage than the plasma in fighting. I personally think it's going to cost a lot less confusion if they were replaced by numbers, just like what's in the old GOF2. BTW are those wingmen controlled by AI or using other players real fighting data? Because they keep bumping into me like they were programmed to do that while my fingers were not even touching the screen. Try to picture your wingman kept bumping you to shift your focus while you are firing on an enemy fighter. Edit: Will there be a future update that brings in the ability to customize the positions of buttons? I indeed enjoyed the new auto fire feature, and I would love to put the switch weapon button on my right hand side so that my left thumb can focus on directions while switching long range/short range weapons with my right thumb.
@TeddyZ: About the upgrade points of ships: It seems like gunships are always not worth it (more expensive to build, lower rating per upgrade and they do not have any advantage over fighters. And fighters have one gadget slot more than scouts, but I have both ratings over 1000 and I still don't have one). Of course you are forced to build them anyway. I still hope for another way to inprove defense rating (gadgets, or maybe new feauture like autoturrets which upgrade both offense and defense). I started to look at this as an unfinished product - a lot of things indicate that (redundant classes of ships being one of them, we might get events that require you to have a specific class). There is so much to improve to make this a great game. Tobi went silent since the bitching and complaining, he didn't even post about the new blog post like he always did. He might be on vacation but it is weird
Cheers, everybody & sorry for the long silence. I've been on vacation for one-and-a-half weeks and ever since I returned to the office, I was mostly busy with gamescom preparations. But, of course, I'm happy to answer the points you brought up here, too. As for the balancing, there is nothing set in stone yet. At this point, we are still pushing buttons and turning screws to find a good configuration that is both fair and challenging. The wingmen are indeed AI operated, but they have the stats and equipment of the players to whom the ships belong. The "bumping into" thing is indeed a little annoying. I hope our devs will be able to improve this.
@GR3NADE I just got the last purple piece for the Hiroto Cloak. Seems like the gunships are finally useful to me. The EMP are quite useful during boss fight as you can freeze the boss for about 10s, which should give you enough time to take out at least half health. I'm still waiting for my cloak device and it needs another 34 hrs by the time I post. I'll update more when I get to try it. (EDIT: I think the waiting time is a bit too long. The cloak needs 48 hrs to build, and a new ship STYX needs 36 hrs! I'm ok with the 48 hrs on cloak since I don't necessarily need it to keep the story rolling, but I definitely need the ship! Now I'm basically locked out of the game just to wait for the new ship to build.) @Tobi Thanks for your reply, glad to see you back. It's good to hear that you're working on the configurations here cuz there're some annoying inconsistencies during the "leveling-up" process. However, my main concern is about the bar charts that supposed to represent the true ability of weapons, but they clearly not. A bar chart needs a "reference" in order to be accurate, and I don't see it in the game at this moment. Besides, you can always using numbers and percentages instead of bar charts. (i.e. DPS: 50; Shooting speed: 1s; Range: 1000m; Accuracy: 90%)
TeddyZ: I got the last purple part today as well (EMP), but the game crashed so I didn't receive it in the end and not even a mission later
You guys are so lucky that you get to play it The rest of us mortals are still waiting for a worldwide release, hoping very soon but knowing it will take time.
@Tobi: A few suggestions: Make color of mines on radar different than red. So we can locate enemy ships. Make something with the red color on radar when you've got red background (sun). I keep failing the challenger mission becouse of this. (No problem winning without the sun background) Show what stage of mission are we in. So we know if we can fire our last missiles or should save them becouse there is one more stage.
Nah,I am going to wait.I have a good feeling it will be releasing sometime soon,I mean the game is complete isn't it?Right now they are probably just working out the F2P model to be more user friendly I think Fishlabs will take all of the F2P comments into consideration and make the game even better than it already is. Btw:them graphics are sweet,I am going to kill my phone from playing when it comes out!
I think it is not as complete as players or developers would wish it to be. Classes of ships have no meaning and they really need to add more missions - Tobi said this is the main goal for the global release
Yeah I just finished the Khador line and it seemed like the story stops for now, no more new missions. The Hiroto Cloak is good but not as helpful as the EMP (I think) unless you are bombarded by a bunch of enemy fighters and need a way out ASAP. Otherwise EMP is more handy as it also allows your wingmen to take out some of the fighters for you. While you can have both by using a gunship, you have to sacrifice a great deal of mobility. BTW why the new gunship Nestaar still has only 6,400 energy points (same as previous ones)? 2 dodges and you got to wait for recharging.
Oh man, really?I was so hyped for this game but if you say it isn't complete than I guess we will have a lot longer to wait.Btw guys can you give out some info on the grinding in the game?Like how much time did it take you to get your first new ship?I remember someone saying before it took them a lot of time but was it like 2-3 hours or are we talking a lot more?Has anything been balanced in terms of timers or has nothing been changed in that regard so far?
Not really, they are going to release it anyway and add new features in updates. First ship? That was a long time for me.. About balance: cost of building and upgrading changed and so did income, so it is hard to tell how is it in the end. The ships at the current end of game take so much time to build, but it might be becouse there is nothing to do after it, so this makes the gameplay longer somehow (like the more are you near the end, the harder to actuaĺly reach the end)
Yeah,I've been looking at the Touchgameplay videos again and saw how much time he needed to get the first ship,I had forgotten I had watched it before. You need to collect so many blueprints for the first ship. Also I saw the 2 hour wait to get the ship back to full health which also wasn't quite cool but I guess 2 hours isn't the longest time,it will be a problem at first when you only have one ship, then you could juggle the ships.I also saw that ship repair takes money too so I don't like that as well to be honest.I get you have to wait for the ship to repair but costing you money is a little over the top I guess. Overall though I think the game will be pretty enjoyable,I actually haven't really ever finished a freemium game so this would be a challenge for me but I do think that the people over at Fishlabs have worked hard to make the game and deserve support. Can you share about the ingame currency, how are the prices? Are there any ship bundles or anything like that?
The 2 time hour repair time still remains 2 hours even for the best ship and it isn't that long. I mean you would wait for an upgrade anyway or something like this. The duration bar doesn't go down too fast, you get 50% bonus for chosing your own wingmens (very easy to add - no facebook sh** or gamecenter). The price of repair is good. It starts at 100 gold for the first ship and goes up by 100 gold per ship. And every new ships helps you defeat at least 2 bosses. Deafeating a boss increases all gold rewards. And all ships slowly (not too slowly, it has a good speed) repair itself for free and you can use them while they are being repaired this way (it is not stated anywhere that ships autoregenerate, so I guess I just came up the very first pro tip ) And the iap looks expensive. There are bundles which are sometimes on sale for a limited time and also discounted after you don't need them (like you've got a ship and a weapon that is better than those in a bundle)
Because only gunships have 2 gadget slots, which allow you to use both the EMP and the cloak at the same time, but they all have terrible engine power....
