No, I think people who own 1st and 2nd gen devices will loose the most. Crashing and other instability issues will rock those old devices. For example look at DS, EA did thier best to make it compatible for all gens but I am hearing people complaining that DS crashed, froze and so forth. It's wise to upgrade at least to 3rd gen, if not people who own 1st and 2nd gen devices should stick to playing to angry birds.
No I think they should absolutley start dropping the older devices eventually, but when the 5th gen comes out they should not drop support for all except the 5th gen thats crazy.
You're trolling and acting elitist based on the fact that you have a fourth gen device. You say that Dead Space shouldn't support old devices, and then say that when the iPhone 5 comes out, which will have the biggest performance advances of any device, that developers should support your completely outdated fourth gen. Stop being such a hypocrite and accept that you'll have to upgrade to a fifth gen if you want support.
Having a 2nd Gen iPod myself, im obviouly going to Disagree with you, even though in some time it will be inevitable. You see, some of us people don't have the cash to buy the new iDevice (Cr)Apple releases every summer. And you can still make a great game whilst supporting the older devices and pushing the Newer devices to its limits. I mean, just look at Real Racing 2, it can be played on a 1G smoothly(and on my 2g it looks amazing)!, and i don't see why other devs can't be like Firemint, either... You, Good Sir, are an Idiot.
Never start a thread topic with "No offense to -"; you just sound like a douche bag. Also EA put a decent amount of time and money into this project, it shows with the production values. Therefore they need to recap that cost and make profit in a month or two instead of a year to considered it a "success". Whereas an indie developer is happy with a few hundred week, Corporate Publishing houses want/need thousands a week. And in conclusion, without those early adopters you wouldn't have your overpriced 4th generation smart phone/touch screen mp3 player.
Wow... just wow. i enjoy this game highly. Having a 2gen is nice. Sure i wish i had a 4gen (and i will soon ) but im super happy that i can play this game, it run fantastically (no crashes or lag), it barely eat my battery (Eden uses my battery faster), and still not spend $230+ on a new ipod to play a $7 game. NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO HAVE THE LATEST AND GREATEST TO ENJOY A CONSOLE QUALITY GAME!!!!
yep! Me too! Haha! I love the thought of this game with even better graphics, and whilst EA are a company who want to make amazing games, simply pushing put a game that will only run on the latest iDevices is not good for business. Too many older generation devices owners are very happy to be able to enjoy this game and that amounts to many more sales. Perhaps a business model down the line might see a retina only version of a game, but then companies will want to recoup on something that specific by charging you more for it... What amazing times we live in
I don't think cutting older gen support would affect their profit, in fact it might save them some money. Take Rage HD and Rage for example, iD reported that of all the Rage games bought only 10% were Rage SD for the older gen devices. If EA dropped optimization for older gen they might had saved money on resources and time. just my opinion
? If they dropped older devices, than they would have to make optimizations for newer devices which cost more money.
I never said i own a 4th gen devise, quote me correctly. Again, i am talking about 3rd and 4th gen devices not 5th gen device. When the time comes, of course i will upgrade in the heart beat!
I am assuming you are a 9 year old kid, the way you are insulting people here in TA! We can agree to disagree but you have no right to call me idiot!
Another RUDE user!! I dont know you, never tried to insult you but why are you resorting to name calling? If you disagree on what i said, please don't comment at all.
If everyone followed this, then what would be the point of discussion in the first place? Anyways, I think that the best course of action would be to make the game for 3rd+ gen & up devices then optimize it for older gen devices. That way, you get the game as good as it can be without alienating older gen owners. Also, I don't think Dead Space would've been very different if they had made it 3rd+ gen only.
I LOVE this game on the iPad, but the best outcome of it's existence is that it will make ID software less likely to release their next graphical masterpiece glued to rails. If Dead Space sells well, we should see more big name titles.
nor you have the right on assuming i am a 9 year old kid(By The Way, your assumption is Wrong...), can we agree on that, then?
The graphics and sound are first rate on the iphone4. I don't think it can be much better unless they went for a larger size (which would mainly result in more, not necessarily better). EA has done a proper job here making the game scale back for lesser devices. If anything they should not have separated iPad from the others.
I think all games coming out from now on should be for fourth gen only. And while we're at it, we may as well kill everyone who reaches the age of retirement, it would allow us younger people to pay less taxes and so have more disposable income. Fair enough logic??
