No offense to older gen devices but Dead Space should have been only for 3rd gen & up

Doesn't mean all games should be made for them. With that argument, why can't my PS2 play PS3 games, or my old computer play Crysis? At some point they are going to have to start excluding older iPods and iPhones to make the graphics the best they can be, just like Infinity Blade has already done. And this is from someone who only owns a second gen device, and hasn't the money to upgrade anytime soon. But I'm fine on missing out on some games if it means they are the best they can be, and others get to experience a graphical masterpiece.

Or why not do the reasonable thing and realize that both groups are profitable and offer the retina version as part of a download so that lower devices can play the normal and higher device gamers get their graphics fix?

    Didn't Space Miner do this?

i think the only solution to this is by making 2 or more versions of the same game, a "HD" version and a standard version. This way old gen owners can still play the game but without the flashy FX and jizz inducing graphics. The HD version will support latest gen devices pushing the hardware to it's full potential.
Rage went with this method and i satisfied both old n newer gen owners and also cut down on file size without all the optimized files all jam packed into one game.

I honestly didnt see anything wrong with the graphics. Some of the comments I dont understand here. What more do you want from the game graphically its almost as good as the console version.

Excluding older gens reduces the appeal of iOS as a gaming platform. I think there should be solid support for each gen 3-4 years after it is released, with only games that absolutely need it going for newer gens. As long as the built in battery works, there should be support. Only the most extreme Steve Jobs nuthuggers want to buy a new system for $300 every year. Anyone else would like to be able to stick with the one they bought at $250 and still use it reliably 4 years later.

When it was just 1st and 2nd gen devices, the iPod touch was looking very appealing, with 3rd gen it was nice having some optional graphical upgrades, but once 4th gen came out the appeal was starting to wear off because too many games weren't working properly and were crashing or just not starting at all due to poor coding for Armv6. As soon as that hit I was pretty much convinced not to get another iOS device for gaming, and the PSP2 is next on my list to buy. Probably a year after the PSP2 is out, there won't be any new games coming out that support my 2nd gen iPod touch, I'll probably still be stuck on 4.3 while iOS 6 is out, and it'll be useless to me.

Sony's track record on the other hand covers a good 5-10 years of use with new games being released for a long time, so as far as investments go, that ends up being a much more solid buy.
