some stick figure tower defense game where you stack blocks that'd be a fairly accurate representation of the app store gaming market
As mentioned before, Apple need to show games that are shown for 2 seconds and people immediately get the gist of what you have to do/what the player is trying to achieve. I guess they would also want to choose a game that shows off the iPhones special features like the accelerometer. Because of this, I think Spider would be a bad choice (it's a good game!) but people would not understand the complexity in the 2 seconds its shown. I certainly agree with the suggestions of graphical games such as N.O.V.A and COD - Zombies. I also think Labyrinth would be a very good choice as it uses the accelerometer controls well and would be a nice one to show off. Mad
Maybe they should start a new series of ads, each ad explaining only one game in about 20 seconds... " 'Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor' lets you play as a spider and discover Bryce Manor. The game has beautiful hand-drawn graphics and the gameplay is challenging and funny. Watch this! *finished his net, viewer can see insects hanging in net* By the way, did I already tell you that Hornets can't be caught by a net? *jumps off the net, smashing a hornet into a wall* " " 'Pocket God' is the most downloaded app ever. Why? The cute animations and complexity of this .99 app might be one reason. Also, the game seems to attract the sadist in all of us! *flicks pygmy into volcano (already flicked 2 while talking, so volcano spits lava on some pygs on the island* Moreover, the developers are constantly adding new funny features to the game! Of course features mean ways of treating the pygmies *moves clouds so bad weather comes, then zaps a pygmy* You know you want Pocket God!"
well that would just turn the ads into an ad for an app, not the iPod touch. I get what your saying, but they won't do that, and I doubt they will consider showing pocket god in an ad, remember last year how it was almost banned from the app store? They should show what other people have been saying, innovative apps that utilize the features of the itouch, maybe a 2 player game of skies of glory or fast, similar to what they did with real racing. Maybe even a bit of C&C, I know it's not the best rts out there but the graphics are good and it shows how the touch screen can be utilized for decent rts controls. They don't even have to show the combat, just showing the buildings being made would appeal to rts fans. Ummm, maybe even that sword app where 2 players swing their itouch like swords and it picks it up, I can't remember what it's called but the players can have a sword fight using their iPods, Just innovative apps like that
