Thanks for the Beta. I just downloaded both, the Beta and Rico, for control comparison. Only one minute in (after the cute but sad intro) and i had to come to say this: Top notch and responsive controls! No little gliding forward after a stop (as in Rico). I'm able to make those tiny little steps by just pushing the direction button a bit, and very important in any platformer, the last pixel is on the players side when standing/landing on the ledge of the platform. While the have four visible (visibility not adjustable yet) little buttons on screen, their hit-box goes all the way up to the middle of the screen and adjustable in width (but not in-game, possible?). This is how developers should use the touchscreen, if there are no more buttons involved of course. The layout is what i personally prefer: Left - right - B (shoot/act) - A (jump) (Some like the option to switch A+B) PS: imho, you don't need to look at any other game's controls...but 'Potatoman seeks the Troof' buttons layout and behaviour is exactly as in Nubs (well, without a shoot button) but after pausing the game, you are able to slide the bottom for width and even for left/right handers. Extraordinary well executed!
Yes, that little slide from Rico is gone, which was in hindsight a design flaw. Thanks Qwertz555, I appreciate your input!
Hey, I just uploaded a new beta-build that should hopefully fix the bugs you found during the previous build. In particular: Fixed stuttering and lags while playing on older devices and devices that do not have a lot of memory left. Ability to skip cutscenes (little button on the top right). Hopefully fixed the game-save error. If anybody else is interested in joining the beta, you're very welcome! Just send me a PM with your email and you're in!
If you play Nubs before Rico, you might think about Rico: what the f...! Other way round, you might say: holy, what a lovely evolution Nubs is! Edit: Rico has one of my best title songs ever. I asked the Dev to implement it into the credits, sort of bonus. Time will tell...
Heh, thanks! I definitely tried hard to improve in the art department, so I'm glad it shows. About the title song of Rico: I have to ask the composer if I am allowed to use it again... we'll see.
I've just watched the video links on the first page - this looks absolutely stunning. Beautiful work.
One of you fine beta testers requested that I label the beamer locations better on the minimap... here's what I have so far: Hopefully, this reduces player confusion!
Judging from the screenshot above (i like they're named now), i'm in my last quarter of this very special and lovely platformer. Keep up your good work.
Thanks a lot! I've been finishing up things, implementing requests from beta testers... Last (big) thing on my list: the end boss fight!
I'm improving the minimap more to further improve player's orientation: Player's now see where the fairy is at all times, where the gates are and what keys they require and where there are sectors they haven't discovered yet.
