Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #15 Rocksaint, Jan 8, 2021 I've played for about an hour and it seems like a casual arcade-y roguelike dungeon crawler. There are 4 classes to choose from, each with their unique basic and power attack. You can switch classes anytime during the game. (And it's essential to keep them alive) Range combat takes some getting used to. And the power attacks are not worth pulling off. Your characters can equip finite items and use them. Some of them can be quite a surprise. (Not spoiling) There are some modifiers to the characters and dungeons before start and there's a risk level that keeps rising as you progress. There is a way to reduce that. (Find it out yourself) I'm not sure what the Online Challenge does and how to play co-op. I started it as co-op and was still somehow playing solo. Also upon completion, nothing happened. (Maybe something to be completed in a future update?) Overall, it's quite a casual game with some items and modifiers to keep things interesting. But the lack of depth in combat and character progression might make me lose interest soon. We'll see. Full time S Dover, DE #16 moshgra, Jan 8, 2021 Might have minor spoilers to "secrets" but they are pretty generic anyway It gets kinda stale really fast. There's not really a sense of progression since there's no leveling and since there's not benefit to fight anything other than gold. But I've got one char with revive tome and 3 with the speed tome and I can just zip to the end of the level without feeling like I missed anything except maybe the treasures. Which also don't seem to do anything. You can find secret areas but other than wasting time, there's gold statues that hardly reduce the difficulty. But the difficulty of general monsters doesn't matter when you can just skip through. It feels directed towards achievement hunters or people who enjoy Grindy combat but the grind doesn't provide anything worthwhile. There's also no explanation of some mechanics. What's the deal with the star over character's heads on some levels? Are characters luck randomly assigned? I do like the different combat styles with each class and can switch easily. Familiar enemies are cool to see. This really reminds me of a watered down version of the old Gauntlet arcade games, fun to have up to 4 players or to try solo. Oh, and it's a roguelike. So if you die after finding the perfect group and items, sucks to suck. houseofg and sakara214ever like this. moshgra Active Member Aug 24, 2012 43 14 8 General Service Technician at PepBoys. This game is so generic it makes you wonder how on earth can a dev make such a souless game with original oceanhorn having such a great story behind. Everything is just without soul and generic. Even the names of the characters. Even gold is called "money". Disappointment. moshgra likes this. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
