Wouldn't that be a problem with your decision not to buy them rather than a fault of the game?

I've been asking that question for over a week...in this forum and the GL one.

Oh, one other question...does anyone know if you can level up your pet?

This is a recent post by Gameloft admin in the official forums. Sorry to Robotwars if this is spreading more rumors not official news.

They don't *NEED* instances. I played Dark Age of Camelot for years and years and it had zero instances for an eternity, particularly pre-WOW. What it DID have were dungeons. And quite simply, Gameloft can already do that since it is essentially the same as the caves they already have in Order & Chaos but with more depth and bosses/loot. Doing that would be fairly easy other than the design perspective. I do miss that from the early days of DAOC, and grouping helped a lot in those because you would have pops respawn behind you.

I believe one of the reasons for the difficulty level in this game being lower than a PC MMO is that the general playstyle of the portable electronic device audience is playing in bursts or on the go, which doesn't lend itself well to dedicated grouping. However, there's definitely room for that too in this game, but you have to appeal to the wider audience first. Perhaps dungeons and/or instanced dungeons will give the more hardcore players that want groups something to take a stab at without exiling the solo players.

Another reason is because it would be hard to have a complex control system (like you can have with a keyboard) whill keeping it compact and easy to use.

Good point, hadn't thought of that. And that goes hand-in-hand with in-game communication and ability to coordinate the team.

That quest was a pain. You have to go near that little puddle/pond and wait for him to appear. When he does you have to be quick and press the "finish quest". Then you need to be quick to press it for a new quest; which is to escort him back. If not you have to wait a while for him to respawn. Best way to get it done is to team up.

I think the difference is, with instances is that theirs an instance for each group, so if multiple groups went in, they would be doing the same thing but not see each other, whereas with dungeons you would see all the other groups to. I think if it was like that i would much prefer instances.

Happened to me as well. I didn't bother trying again. The arrow points me to the mother but she does not believe I completed the quest. Darn kid probably is off doing mischief somewhere instead of going home!

In WoW, yes, but WoW isn't the only game that has dungeons in it.

A dungeon is simply a location other than the main overworld of the game, that is filled with monsters and may also have bosses and extra game mechanics like puzzles to work through.

Ultima Online had dungeons, but they were not instanced off like in WoW and there were no bosses.

An instance is a programming term (not sure if it has other meaning than that) but lets say a group walking through an open world wants to go through a dungeon area, as poster above suggested they will see all other people in the area.

In an instance, the game creates an Instance OF the dungeon, Ie you can simultantionsy have Dungeon(0), Dungeon(1), Dungeon(2), each with different groups and various progress through the dungeon. The people in different instances will never see eachother.

Think of it like opening notepad on your PC. you can open notepad 10 times and have 10 different instances of notepad running with different text in each.

    Hope that explains the difference.

PS. The game doesnt NEED instances if there is sufficient endgame content done properly, however doing it as instances is better because then you wont have people camping spawn points and ruining the experience for other people.

Trying to have it both ways ;)

I am a huge fan of instanced content. For the sort of grunt tasks of travelling overland and killing boars and such as you go, the "everybody in the pool" approach is nice, but you can't really have anything *structured* without instances, and spawn camping issues or not, structured content beats the snot out of an entire game that's like a Disney ride where if you turn your head and look back you see the big bad boss doing the exact same thing again and again.

I find logging in at 7am EST works wonders for quests, and also walking through Arkan's Field without being slaughtered.
