Your kind of quibbling with me here -- I said that there is nothing about the game that is better than WOW, but that it is "as good" as WOW in some areas. I guess I probably should have said "almost as good" or "as good for practical purposes" or whatever. And the caveat "in some areas" is very important too. There are other areas where it falls significantly short of WOW, at least right now. Its not ever going to get to WOW's polish, but I sometimes play in the bathroom or while watching TV with the wife, and I feel like less of a dork with a one time 6.99 than $14 a month. I'm sure the wife would never even notice .99 a month if I'm still playing. If its going to get closer to WOW, I'll keep playing for a bit. It will take Guild Wars II to get me back to this type of game on the PC.
Is Touch Arcade guild re-forming? If so, I'd like to join -- who do I PST? My main is a 42 undead mage named Corpsy. Yeah, not my best name for a character.
Do you guys know anywhere other that Greenmount that have a pet shop? I saw a guy carrying a tiny bat around, which I think it is pretty cool.
Greenmont is the only place where there is a pet shop that you can use gold at. Ubiquitous Nick at pretty much every town also sells pets for runes. Other than that all pets come as rare drops. So for anything those two don't sell, you need to farm or buy from the auction house.
Stuck at Level 22 Hi guys, First time poster here... I have been grinding through the game as a level 22 warrior and have literally run out of quests. I am in the Swamp of Wyrms area of the game and have done all the quests in Bordhill and Necromancers Academy, but the other places on this map (e.g. Glimmermoor, Port Vercy) have quests that are greyed out for me. I assume it is because my level is not high enough. The other cities/ areas on this map are too high a level for me to even enter into. Any suggestions on where to go at this level - or where I have gone wrong!? I just seem to be running around aimlessly at the moment and it's starting to irritate me! Thanks guys...
Could always go and finish some higher level quests in the previous area. When I first entered the Swamps I was lv20 and didn't have to grind until level 24 and even then it was just a little. If old questing isn't your stuff then just keep killing stuff to gain a level or a few.
I decided to make a ranger, and was wondering, which skill tree do you recommend? Is it bad to go with both archer and assassin?
Archer tree is pretty well liked, good at PVP and PVE. People have mixed opinions on the assassin tree. Kills fast, but you might need to eat fairly often. Hybrid might not be so great because there is a damage booster in the archer tree that boosts range and nerfs melee damage.
Its better to choose one first and then later add points to the other, otherwise you won't reach the really powerful talents.
Well they play very differently. Archer is all about getting as much damage on foes as you can before they get to you. They have a poison that has a 15% chance (30% later) to slow the target, and a bind that stops movement for 2-4 seconds depending on another passive skill. Then they also have many skills to increase ranged damage and critical rates/damage. basically archers do as much damage as possible from a range, then when an enemy gets close, they either bind and run, or use the basic 150% damage ranged skill up close, ignoring melee. Assassins also have damage increasing skills, but for melee instead of ranged combat. Assassins are based around stealth, so their attacks get bonuses from using them in stealth. basically you stealth, use a basic 150% melee skill that stuns if used in stealth, then while their stunned, use "dagger stab' which does extra damage when used on a stunned opponent. After that, you re-stealth and move on to the next victim. Both are very single target oriented. The basic PvE strategy for either is.. ..For ranger: (prepare poison) => Bind => high damage skill => basic ranged DPS skill until the target is killed. ..For assassin: (either Stealth Skill) => stealth stun => "dagger stab" => basic combat/DPS skills. If you go ranger, I wouldn't combine with assassin because one of the rangers best passive skills increases ranged damage by 30%, but also decreases melee damage by 15%. It sound like it's not worth it, but it helps so much you wouldn't believe it. If you go Assassin, you may want a few more basic ranged skills so that you can aggro enemies from a distance with more damage, but it's up to you. And Archer is better at PvE while Sin is better for PvP. Oh, and ArtNJ, if used right, a Sin can decimate a ranger. Rangers are better to just sit back and snipe helpless warriors from afar.
Actaully, you have about 20 extra points after 40. 40 is the minimum level for the final skill in the skill tree. But I agree.
Thanks guys. I was looking over a lot of the skills in each tree, to see what kind of skills each have, and it's a tough choice. I know I'll be fine with whatever I choose (I hope), but I just don't want to get too far and then have regrets. Each of them have really cool sounding skills haha.
In my opinion, even at a low lvl & as a starter, put some Points in the Assassin skill tree till your able to get the Escape Skill. Its good to run away when your overwhelmed. Plus it kills Travel time & great when Kiting mobs.
The trainers in Silence or Greenmont sell skill reset items for 10g (you buy it and then use it to reset your skills).
