As much as I enjoyed OaC and do respect it for being the first MMO on a portable device that comes close to a computer counterpart, I'm definitely with everyone else, too little too late. There just doesn't seem to be much else outside mindless grinding to hold my interest right now.
I might come back with iOS 5 if there's an option to stream it in high def onto my TV through an Apple TV.

No one buys the iap gold, third parties sell it for 100x cheaper. so really I think gameloft should raise the amount of gold you get from iaps. 1gold/dollar is nothing. Maybe if they did I would see less gold spam...

From what I've played, I like the game quite a bit. Much more than Aralon, actually. But the lack of 3G play just kills it completely for me, I end up never playing it because of it.

Gameloft is thinking about adding 3G support but who knows when they'll get around to it. In the meantime, I believe some people have used Jailbreak to get 3G working with O&C.

There is open world PvP in certain regions of the game but it is a source of frustration for players who don't want to get ganked while doing quests.

You cannot IAP yourself to uberness. The new armor sets will give you about a 10% boost compared to the quest reward items and some epic crafted items are actually better than the IAP ones. If you really want to buy yourself into uberness, buy an epic player's account.

Not sure about kiting but you're right, there is no need to group right now except for social reasons. All the current content is solo-able. The dungeon instance in the next update will require a group, however.

Actually, the sidebar lets you hotkey 10 actions or items at a time.

Subscriptions are supposed to pay for ongoing improvements to the game. Whether the improvements are worth it or not remains to be seen. The first update was pretty disappointing. The next update is supposed to come out in August and includes the first dungeon instance with cooperative game play and new epic items.

+1 -- game is easily worth the money, nothing close for a MMO outside of a PC yet, but you will likely get bored of it long before your 3 month trial subscription is up. It falls short of WOW in many ways, some small, some bigger.

Yep, and it works stunningly well :) Just fire up 3G Unrestrictor, add O&C to the list, and you can get yer mind-blanking grinding on in no time ;)

seriously? i'm still somewhat interested in this, and fire it up from time to time. i'm not all that worried about gameloft's supposed greed or whatever, when subscription fees are around 50 cents a month, but it is pretty disappointing that the free account has been removed, if that's true.

edit: confirmed. just tried to log in and you can't get past the character selection screen if your subscription has lapsed.

Gameloft's new goal is supposedly to gather up haters by the minute. Congratulations. You've got just yourselves another one.

The free limited accounts promised by Gameloft in the beginning seems to be a ploy to get subscriptions from people who were worried about not being able to play without paying for the monthly.

You probably should be interested in Gameloft's greed because in the three months since a supposed subscription based MMOG launched they have provided no new content of any significance, barely addressed bug fixes, and on the three month anniversary day the opening day suckers had decided to give it a spin (or KA-CHING! day as it was known in the GL accounting offices), they reneged on the one element of the game that made it attractive if you weren't looking to be locked into continually spending money to just to access the game you bought.

It's not the actual cost of $3 every six months that bothers me, it's the transparency of their greed in how they're doing things. They're going to be trickling out content just often enough to milk that $3 from as many people as possible through doing the absolute minimum possible.

The "bargain" MMO only works if enough people keep buying and subscribing, and the best way to do that is to demonstrate true support. What they're doing is the polar opposite of that: they're giving us nothing new while they changed policies - on the very first day the old policy would have been in effect I might add - to hold access to your account hostage to subscriptions, of which, of course, you'll want the 6 month commitment one for $3, best bargain don't you know, while not actually delivering anything new as of yet. And once you bite, that gives them another six months to develop just enough of a teaser carrot that you'll shrug your shoulders and say, "eh, it's only $3" and renew again.

I'd gladly pay the money and more if they were showing signs of supporting the game with regular and scheduled content development and other improvements (it's a safe bet nearly 4 years after their last premium expansion that if I go longer than a week to log into Guild Wars there will be *some* kind of update), but when you look at how they've handled the game so far, look at how they kept the Android users separate for no discernable reason other than allowing them to keep them on a different trickle schedule, that does not in any way appear to be their plan. I just deleted it last night. If four months down the road they've changed their tune and actually delivered some beefy updates I'll probably come back and see how it's hanging, but given who the parent company is, they're going to need to actually deliver something new before I'm going to give them something new.

Instead of giving $2.99 to Gameloft, I went and bought Bumpy Road that's been sitting there on my wishlist for a while since they did just deliver a big update.

Anyone else still getting spammed by gamelofts push notification for the new dungeon coming "next month". Just got 3 more messages in a row.

The cash grab nature of this makes me cringe.
Basically they're saying we promise we'll have something (of questionable content) in the next month (what day we don't know but I'll bet it'll be the very last day if not delayed further).
Now why are you saying u've got a dungeon coming in this spam?.....oh what's that?? The first memberships just expired....coincidence?

Such a fail also leaving pvp in public quest areas...how much thought went into that?

I good game and could be very good, just unfortunately ruined by the cash grab nature.

Felt I had to cross-post what I said about it on another forum a day or two ago, LOVING this game.

Been playing Order & Chaos for a few hours and while I'm not usually a fan of Gameloft's offerings, with a few exceptions, this game is mighty impressive.

On the 'casual' side (questing etc) the experience is pretty much on par with WoW! This is nuts, I mean, I love it when an MMO gets it right in terms of providing an immersive, social and streamlined questing experience and I'm always disappointed to see that most free or very cheap mmo's don't take enough hints from WoW in that area. The O&C team did a magnificent job in this respect.

It still is just Gameloft cloning WoW but it actually has some soul and it definitely has polish, two things Gameloft games normally lack. In comparison, Aralon for example really did not click with me due to janky half-assed aspects of the game (sun rising in front of the mountains instead of coming up behind it etc) and utterly generic content (quests feel irrelevant, city layouts are giant squares etc). O&C feels like it was made by WoW fans who are being pretty passionate about trying to bring that experience over to mobile platforms.

If this game worked over 3G I'd be playing the shit out of it!

Oddly enough, I was thinking of coming back and trying the game out again on the lower population server. With the first dungeon coming out in the nearer future, I figured I could finally play the tank I wanted to play when the game first released. :)

Is there any way, outside of jailbreaking your iPhone, to play this game over 3G? I have my phone setup as a mobile hotspot, but unfortunately I can't connect to it. Any ideas?

I know a lot of people have quit, but dungeon update is out today. :) I'm only level 20, so no dungeon for a while for me, but pretty excited about them updating and (hopefully) having more in store.

On the server news, it says that there will be server maintainence today, and that's probably why you are having problems.

The update reminded me of this game and I decided I am going to make a new character. What class should I make him?
