Sad but probably true. I can't believe these are the same devs behind Knights Onrush and iDracula. Why don't they show any love for this game, when it's IMO their best game? Why are they hurting their own reputation as devs but ignoring all requests for updates to this game?
Well it's their choice and they said the game is not selling good because is not for the predominant casual market. I am personally waiting for bugs fixing or a sale because I recently bought Magic in the xbox and I want to buy a similar one but not a 5$ game unpolished
It's polished. There are no bugs at all to speak of. The only problem is that it doesn't have any of the expansions that were released on the PPC version, and it doesn't have online multiplayer. Otherwise it's a solid game, well worth the $5. If you want something like magic, it's a great buy, except that they simply don't seem to care about the fans of the game.
I agree with Wikgoogle. It is very disappointing to know that some additional content exists and won't come to the iphone, but the game as it stands deserves extreme praise. It is a great game, with a good replay value, a very polished interface and an entertaining and well-thought combat system. I know very few games on iphone that I see myself play as long or as much as this one. And since the devs seem to be very practical people (i.e capitalistic opportunists) buying the game is the only way to make them adapt the extensions. Keeping your money and waiting will never give a dev the means or desire to update a game that is not in the top 100.
Well, if you enjoy TCG's at all, even remotely, this game definately is worth it. Yes, it sucks that the newer expansions/cards and online multiplayer that came out on the PPC (for money) didn't come out for the iPhone version, but remember, those things costed more money. We got the same thing that the PPC people get for $5 (actually I think it's $10 on the PPC), we just never got the expansions, which would have costed more money anyways. As a protest against developers who don't follow through on promised expansions, I totally understand not buying the game. But strictly in terms of value, in terms of gameplay, content and fun, it's 100% worth it. I have 200+ apps and this is by far my favorite, and the game that I play the most often (but then again, I'm a fan of TCGs so that helps).
Amen to this! Now with their vast iphone experience they could make something a lot better from the ground up and not just a port of the Wndows Mobile game. Trying to revive a long abandoned game with just a patch probably wouldn't cut it at this point.
Yes I agree this kind of game if promoted can be a hit here. Right now this game is out of the radar. Reading your comments here I see the game is finished, just no expansions but for me is ok, I surely will buy it to enjoy the game and to help you get the expansions and for the devs to see we care about Card games. I think the iDevice is perfect for that genre
What were the unresolved problems with this game? I gather from folk like VoodooVyper that there were still some pretty obnoxious glitches that were never addressed.
I think this game is REALLY good. I played this a LOT when I first got it. However, I found that I became too good at it...I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I just ALWAYS won. I still enjoyed the battle elements and such, but stopped feeling a challenge. I sincerely doubt an expansion is coming, but if it did I would buy it immediately. If you don't have it, it's certainly worth it...I got more than 5 dollars worth of fun from it, and I haven't run into any stability issues that were deal breakers.
There were quite a few bugs I reported to the dev. Some got fixed, but a number of them are still there. One of the worst is that if the AI's 5 card slots are all filled, the AI can still play cards (non-creatures), whereas if your slots are filled, you can't play anything (which is what the rules state it should be). Some of the other issues are related to card descriptions - aside from not always being very clear because of occasional poor translations, some of the descriptions actually don't match the card's effect. Another bug I saw once was when the AI's card slots were all full, it played a card for which it didn't have enough resources. It won the game, and at endgame, its resource count for that color was negative. I haven't played the game in a little while, mostly cuz I've had so many other games to play. I stopped playing campaign mode altogether though because there are just too many issues with it, both in bugs and design. It's a nice idea, but it's just not really carried out very well. It's too bad support has more or less ceased for the game - it's pretty good as is and has/had a lot of promise. Here's hoping Wizards comes out with MTG for iphone - I would SO buy that, even if it was $10 (or even more). I've actually considered developing a card game of my own, but need to learn more about iphone development first - maybe in a few months...
Well, for now, until Steve Jackson games comes out with some game apps, two games are filling this need, not exactly, but beggers cant be choosers. They are Kolonist, a Catan clone; and Hanto, an INCREDIBLE and even better than the original Hive clone, for what it's worth.
Yeh those are problems. I did however manage to SSH into iPod (jailbreak) and rewrite the descriptions so that they're better. Worked a charm! I also saw that there were a few cards in the game's app already that haven't been implemented into the game yet! The basis for an expansion is practically installed already, yet MoreGames do nothing about it! People should complain harder and more, and then maybe something will be done about it.
We could agree not to buy any more games from these guys until the bugs are addressed. It would be a tough strike to do because of how good mist of the games are, but at the same time, I really don't like spending 5 dollars on a broken app.
i would really love to get some new carts for thiss app. i believed we where promised the expansions around new year or something so thats over a half year ago. i really think this is a great game but the support for it is not so great
Like I said on the other thread: I really think we could change their minds. They are sitting on a gold mine and for some reason they seemed uninterested in invest some time in it. They launched it with minimal effort (after all, it was a port), DIDN'T MARKET IT, and are surprised that the game sold poorly? Temporary price drop + even a minor update (hell, add TWO cards to each "path". This could not possibly take much more than a week to implement) would propel this game to the Top 25 list. This minor PR stunt would give it the attention it deserves. You all know it. I'll keep on emailing them regularly. It seemes they lost interest simply because they didn't strike gold at the first attempt with Orions. It doesn't take much to bring this awesome game back into the public AppStore eye.
I read from other post that the developer sounds like he/she has given up on this game. Shame, based on all the popular posts I read here and there. It has on my watch list for a very (way too) long time.
