I was up to around 400 apps but did a spring cleaning and now down to 255 apps. So the new itunes 9.0 and os 3.1 did it help with still only 11 pages 16 x 11 = 176 + 4 = 180 apps. Nope not really.

Ability to drag apps to organize is nice but doesn't really help if you can't even see some apps you'd like on your first page. Can I drag it from the left side. Answer is no.

Can I sort all app alphabetically or by category and apply those to the way they are sorted on idevice. Answer is no you must manually drag and drop how you want them..sigh oh sigh. So it's pretty much useless to me although nice concept.

I always complained it searched only the App filename and not App Title. Well now OS 3.1 does search title.

    Here are examples
OS 3.0 search for Defender Chronicles
if I put De it would NOT pull up Defender Chronicles instead you would have to remember it's D. Chronicles or instead search for D. or Chr for instance. OS 3.1.1 you can now search De or Def and voila D. Chronicles shows up in spotlight.

OS 3.0 wanted to see the free Movies app so search for it with spotlight so you type Mov but it won't show up because you had to remember the filename is Flixster so you had to search Fli or Fl well scratch me a new one hard to remember amongst 300 apps. Now with OS 3.1 you can type Mo or Mov and voila Flixster shows up.

Also the whitebackground instead of black for Application section allows me to print out screenshots instead of wasting gobs of black ink. Downside the Print itunes app you have for instance:

AppBox Pro e2ndesign Utilities 3.2 MB
AppSniper Manta Research Productivity 1.3 MB
ArcadeManiak Alexandre Minard Games 11.9 MB

whereas before Itunes 8.2 you could just print the names only of apps and make a list on just a couple pages. The new way sucks cuz it's 5 pages and you might as well just do 60 app icons per page and print out the graphics instead of the text listing. But having said that with the new spotlight app title searching I may not need to anymore anyway.

This is cool, as with my more than 16 pages worth of apps I started learning what to type into the search to get to an app quickly (or at all.)

My iPod Touch is still in it's first post-3.1.1 backup, before that started I did note that I still had 16 pages of apps, but only 11 show in iTunes.

  3. Yea I started new firmware update at 11:30am and it finished backing up at 2:30pm so yeah only a 3 hour backup process for about 6GB of audio and apps for my ipod touch 16GB. So if I buy that new 64GB ipod touch what will that be a 30 hour backup? Yea screw the new energy components having to do a 30 hour backup throws all that out the window for the amount of energy wasted.

Ugh, had to kill the backup, it was about 3/4 done.

I'll sync it with my computer here at work first thing tomorrow morning.
