    Yeah, they fail.

Just take a look at this page: http://software.precentral.net/homeSoftware.asp
They try to copy Apple with the style of advertising - the font, the layout etc.
The apps they have in their own "App Store" look crap and they are all way overpriced.

I'm not surprised. Google did the same thing with Android, adding easy iPhone portability to its SDK. But Palm's problem is that the Pre is its sink-or-swim device. They made a bunch of mistakes in the PDA and SmartPhone arenas years ago, particularly splitting off the OS to PalmSource, who then sold it to Access when they botched it and got re-absorbed, and sitting on their ass never doing anything good with Garnet while constantly promising the fabled PalmOS 6 with multitasking and blah blah blah. They sat on their ass too long, started releasing minor rehashes of the same hardware, and damn near died because of it. The Pre is designed to be their ladder out of the hole they dug, but I don't think they're going to quite make it. They'll probably survive, but they're going to spend their time watching Apple and Google's butts wiggle. It's kind of sad to see the company that was the king of PDAs and the company that popularized the concept of the smartphone when they acquired Handspring reduced to an also-ran.

    I don't even believe they have 1,000.
Anyway, they only have 45 games. Each game is a crap 2D mobile/java type game and they are charging $9.99 for most of them!
I feel sorry for anyone who buys a Palm.

The Palm Pre is actually not that bad of a phone
    the webOS is somewhat flawless
yes there is a few hiccups in it but it still a young OS

I just do think there app store is lagging
and i think being like apple (by trying to be like apple i mean totally become apple) is just a bad why of going

Also that why I have an iPod Touch for apps

Also if your read the post
there is really no support for iPhone porting the PDK makes it simpler for all app porting

What they need to do is start offering something the iPhone doesn't have along with emulating things such as the AppStore to a certain degree. Android isn't doing too bad since it's not putting its focus on games but on handy utility apps, and it spans a lot of phones. I've used the Droid. The OS is pretty slick.

On Slide To Play, they annouced that Palm got to the 1,000 apps. And then bagging on it's way behind the iPhone app store, it was in December or January when it said that.
