I didn't even bother checking out this thread because of the word "Paper" in Paper Racer. Boy was that a mistake...bought it as soon as I saw the first screenshot.
This is something i haave to think about. Wow so many games.... cause i already own the game "Doodle Kart" which looks similar( make your own car, same paper design, etc)
I'm a big fan of MicroMachiens so tempted to get this but I recently bought Death Rally and Sonic Racing so not sure if I can handle any more racing games at the moment. I'm not too keen on the control interface though.
And some parts of this game remind me Death Rally, well, for me either, not sure to buy though many possitive game impressions left in the previous posts. I have so many racing games, and most of them are big storage consumers, like Sonic racing and Real Racing 2. Storage is another concern for my 8g iPod touch4 *embarrasing*
Ok, I got the game. Spent more time so far adding cars. Can anyone tell me what the image size should be for the best results? I add cars with white background but they get resized and end up being quite pixelated and ugly.
Upon purchasing the game, I didn't initially like it too much. It felt childish and difficult. After seriously giving it a chance, I have not stopped playing it since. The handling is great and rewarding. The graphics are very nice. The tracks are all different (not simply flipped like some of my recent racing purchases). The items on the tracks all move in a physics-based way. Definitely adds something unique to the challenge. I am having a bit of trouble finding (and getting through) the "checkpoints". If you happen to miss one, you will immediately go down to 6th place. Long story short - it's very worth the money. Recommended!
Its a good game, but devs really need to improve the controls. I manage to win races after a few tries but both button and vertual stick controls need a bit of work. Ofter they are unresponsive, for example I may be pressing one of the arrow turn buttons, but the car doesn't turn. Great game otherwise.
Yeah, the game is awesome other than the controls. I photographed my son's lego airplane and less than a minute later was racing it on a track - pretty awesome. The controls in Reckless Racing, vsRacing and Death Rally are so spot on that you concentrate on actual gameplay. Here you fight the controls half the time. If devs fix all that the game would be priceless.
I like Paper Racer! I read some feedback to the game here and wanted to give just my 2 cent. I like the game and I like these controls, but I can understand that some people like other controls, so I hope that the developer make an update soon! Nevertheless I like the game and I like to drive the car in the game which I created by myself. So that I can only recommended to try the game out.
I've had a couple of issuses with the controls and the car not turning but not often enough to spoil the game. The fact you can drive anything you can draw or photograph is fantastic though. Use tried drawing my own cars, took pics of my transformers in vehicle form and pics of my kids toys all work great and you can even set them as the AI so you can make the game whatever you like.
It seems to me that the only problem with the controls is the size of the arrows. If they remained the same size, but had a wider (more forgiving) area of use. Just my 2 cents. Otherwise a very solid racing game indeed.
I got used to the controls after a race or two. I guess not everyone will be comfortable with them and the touch input area could be larger. I'm having a great time with this game though. It's not extremely deep but what it does, it does very well. Great physics, tracks, and nice style. The single musical track does get a little repetitive, but other than that I have no complaints. I can't think of a better top down racer on my iPod, except for Death Rally, which I think of as a shooter as much as a racer.
I really like the way the car slides around the corners, it takes balance and smoothness to not lose speed. I would like to have an higher camera view and the option to remove the objects on the tracks to better enjoy the pleasure of driving around the circuits.
Great new update. Any problems with the controls are now sorted buttons are a little bigger and more responsive. Great stuff.
