So where did the inspiration for this game come from ? I always wonder how you guys come up with your game ideas. I guess you make games that you would wanna play yourself and hope other people like it or is it vice versa ?
To state the obvious, bastion and mega man battle network, however the devs may have drawn inspiration from many other different games too.
Like the name of the thread perhaps ? lol The bastion reference is definitely there although I think it's lite because the narrator truly made bastion more than a dual stick action game. Never played the mega man thingy. I just see a lot of other things in this that people haven't mentioned especially with the spell/deck building. anyway maybe I'm just thinking too much since I haven't even played this yet. I wanna learn how to make games so just seeing what makes foursaken tick lol
Maybe you should check out GeoVertex. It's a 'game' on the App Store that allows you to make games. Sadly, you can't publish them on the App Store, but you CAN send them to the dev (who's a really nice guy) and if it's good enough he might put it into the game as a sample game that others can play. I myself made a racing car game which got 'published'. It can be hard to learn all the different things, but you don't need to know any code or anything.
Thats exactly it (just making games we'd want to play)... sometimes thats taking direct influence from a game (in this case MMBN), and sometimes its creating an interesting blend and then saying in retrospect: "oh, this is kind of a like a mix of x,y and z!" without even realizing it Even Block Fortress was never meant to directly emulate Minecraft, tbh... the block building aspect was really the only way to be able to do completely freeform bases like that though - of course MC paved the way for that idea, but its an inadvertent influence more than a purposeful one. We also are aware of our audience, and understand we're building mobile games, so that drives some of the decision making as well. Heh, kind of Bastion for example was more of a visual descriptor AFTER we created the game. We needed a block/grid based framework (for the battles to work right), and we needed a cool way to introduce blocks - the world is kind of an unstable, ethereal world, so the idea of blocks rising and falling out of place seemed like a perfect fit (it also makes the transitions into battle really cool when the whole world falls away but the battle grid). It wasn't until after we had the system was completely done that we were like: "hmmm, I guess thats kind of like Bastion's terrain."
damn I can't wait for this gem! The more you'll describe it the more I'm drooling over here. You'll just keep feeding the beast here and getting my wife more and more pissed because she doesn't compare gaming addiction to her shoe or clothes addiction. Actually my addiction is a HELL of a lot cheaper than hers hahaha. I don't ask for much but gaming, hot meals, healthy kids, and yes that 3 letter word that we all enjoy so much and I'm not talking about TEA
Forsaken Media just posted about a new game on their twitter feed: "Announcing Puzzle to the Center of the Earth! Kind of like a Spelunky + match 3 hybrid - check out the 1st screen!" http://twitter.com/FoursakenMedia/status/507591355640463360/photo/1 I can't wait to hear more about this one!
Woosh, like a week away from Phantom Rift. I think it would be funny if Foursaken and 3Sprockets teamed up... it would be 7thHeaven Gaming Studio
Just wanted to drop in and apologize for the lack of an early promo code giveaway like we had hoped... the game is still "waiting for review" >_< Hopefully we'll at least have a few days before launch to give some out!
It's all good I just hope you guys don't get screwed with the App Store taking some damn long. I was hoping to see this on app spy or something .
So FM I'm just not sure of this but how do devs get promo codes for your games? Do you have to pay for the game for us needy bastards or does Apple give you an option to get codes for your games? I'm just curious of how this works. Thanks in advance
I heard they get like 100 codes for reviewers and other websites to try out. Anyways looking so excited for this. It kinda feels like battle heart legacy right? Different weapons and stuff im so excited haha!! I love foursaken.
If the game ever gets approved, we will! Its cutting it pretty close at this point, so we MIGHT have to push the date back a week. We gave ourselves 3 weeks to get approved (which is ordinarily a TON of time, even taking into account possible rejections), but with the rejection and now a seemingly extra long approval time this go-round, its not looking good :/ I'll keep you posted though!
