There is IAP for the same pixels you earn in game to buy powerups, but they don't seem necessary so far, just a way to speed up progress. Another game by this dev, Pixel Breaker, also went free recently but it has an IAP to remove ads so it should have always been free IMO, and I didn't think it was worth posting about, but it's decent too.
