i'm banking on a minimum of 4.99 for this one, with a 6.99 price being likely, and a zero shock value at 9.99

Hmm. Well I definitely won't pay $10. Just my personal principle when it comes to downloaded games, since I can never resell them. $6 - $7... maybe. $5, no problem for a game of this caliber.

Why is this so good? My kids LOVE the free web version. I thought the free web version was seriously cute, but wasnt too sure about in depth strategy, does that aspect of it pick up?

Yes, there are dozens of different plants and zombies, and the pace gets a lot more hectic. Most of what is online is early levels basically designed to act as a tutorial. There are also ouzzles and mini-games to be unlocked - Bejeweled while zombies eat your plants, a zombie version of insaniquarium, levels where you play as the zombies, invisible zombies, vasebreaker levels where each vase can have a plant or a zombie, etc.

The strategy becomes magnified when you have, say, 40 plants and 8 slots to put them in, with lots of different zombies to deal with - the zombie zamboni driver, which leaves ice for he zombie bobsled team, the Michael Jackson zombie, etc.

I played and beat the PC version. This game has a decent difficulty level for the first playthrough of the campaign mode. On the 2nd playthrough, it chooses three plants (out of the 8(10 if you upgraded) plants for you) to make the game even more difficult. There are tons of mini games along with the normal game and even a Zen garden to help collect coins. It's well worth almost whatever they charge, which is hopefully not too high.

    my uneducated guess: $5
    Peggle was $5
    Bejewelled was $5

I'd LOVE if it were $3 but I'm not too hopeful.

i think that the price will be at 99% 4,99$ or 6,99$.
    less or more is counterproductive...

I played the PC version the other day, it didn't really click with me. I can see the potential for strategy but it feels kinda formal and strict. I like the more freeform approach of traditional TD games.

FYI - Bejeweled 2 started at $9.99. Linky. It has since then dropped.

As for PopCap's other games, they all started at $5. Bookworm, Peggle, and Chuzzle. I'd expect PvZ to start off at that price point but wouldn't be surprised if is introduced at a higher price since it is a meatier game. And there appears to be a lot of demand for it.

    Just my two cents. :)

oh yeah it was $10. I don't think that price model lasted very long though.

my bet is $5 (which I'll gladly spend)
