The one on the right for sure, the one on the left doesn't really give much impression of the game. The middle one just doesn't look at good as the one on the right. Like you said, people may think 'oh another ball game'. If possible make another where you include the ball, but not make it so obvious.
in that case, why don't you do that, with the one we said would be cooler on our device for the device and the other for the appstore?
Yeah...I think so lol. Which one are you referring to as the "bland" one? Yeah I think either left or right myself. Check out the latest few icons I posted. I took the right one and make some tweaks. I tried to add the character to the left one but it just doesn't look good. Either full on character in the shot or none. Don't you think that would trip ppl out a bit? They download a b/w icon and probably gonna expect/look for the same icon on their homescreen. No? Thanks everyone!
I meant in a that is what most people are saying but I feel differently kind of way, so yeah the first one. I don't think people will be too messed up by it as the icons are similar in style, you're not doing a 180 in the style of the icon anyway. I kind of like that. Actually I wish more devs did this. Something that pops in the appstore to attract me. And then something that looks nice on the device to make me keep it.
Hmmm that is a very interesting perspective. You're saying there will be times when you'll keep the game/app just because of how much you like the icon even if you're not using it much?
Certainly not just because of the icon, or not even mostly, but it might have an effect on the position on the device, therefore, the amount I might play it. I love the Karisoft games to death, but I would never put one of their games on my home page, while pocket god was on there for a while even though I played it very little just because it was cool icon (and changed very often). It is just a little nit-picky things that you'd want to appeal to, since the people who don't care don't care anyway in my opinion.
I hear ya loud and clear...that makes a lot of sense actually. Def something I'll consider over the weekend --> b/w on the AppStore, r/w on the device.
Alright, after LOTS of self-debate and thought, I've decided which icon I'll be going with. And the winner is...bottom left icon. (without the little pink butterfly though lol).
The thing with the Angry Birds icon is that it's simple and clear. You don't have to strain your eyes to see the details, yet it's still retinal display crisp. Try removing unnecessary details to the icons.
I wouldn't compare Angry Birds with Deo, they're just sooo different from the visual perspective but I do agree with what you're saying! I'm actually going with the icon that has the red character in it haha
