Poll: Do you like OF/Plus/AGON logos on game icons?

I personally don't like the plus+ logo. I prefer the logo of OF. THe bordered one looks better in my opinion and I extremely dislike the one used in Navy Patrol: Coastal Defense since it is hard to read.

I agree 100%. Leave it on the app store logo so people can easily see that the game has OF, Agon, Plus and that should be enough.

 

I like them so I can see which one has it and which doesn't. I really don't mind it either way though, it just gives it a more professional look in my opinion.

 

Having the same image stamped multiple times across your iPhone screen looks incredibly unprofessional in my opinion. They might as well just release OF branded iPhones and get rid of the icon on the logos.

 

I hate the logos. Hate them hate them hate them. Some more than others, but the fact is the only bother me less when they are intergrated well, which most are not. I have bought a 99 cent game based on a nice looking icon - Blimp was one that comes to mind. I would be furious if they changed it. To me the icon represents the design and quality of the game in brief. I know it's kind of judging a book by it's cover. But in a sea of apps, lets be honest, sometime you just go for the pretty, shiny things.

 

I've been playing around with the Bombardiers Guild icon to get a feel for what can be achieved. I'm tending towards leaving the icon as is (see the current one in the link), but here it is with *everything* crammed in.

I imagine they'd get lost in the 57x57 version....

I'm not sure what OF's policy is regarding devs changing the icon either. We can use it or not use it, but can we make it (subjectively) better? The icon in my post above is already tweaked to tone down the green, and the border is custom. I could stamp the leaves on the rocket...?

But I think it looks best without the OF logo.

 

It certainly looks better than most, my biggest issue is that the OF logo simply doesn't suit most icon graphics in it's style. You've got it looking like it kinda belongs there rather than just stamped on top like an advertisment. I'd prefer the logo without, but if I had to choose an icon that actually looks decent with the OF logo on I'd probably vote for that.

 

I hate when some have it and some don't. I'm a big plus+ fan so i have a page of just plus+ games. It's annoying for some to have the logo and some to not, messes up the organized look, which i have OCD about. lol

 

What about taking out the green background, making it tonal to brass. And resizing how big this extra icon is.

 

Someone needs to go and ask the OpenFeint guys how much they're allowed to change, cause no one seems to know. If they're really relaxed about having their icon altered it'd help the situation a lot. I've got the feeling they'd want to keep the green though.

 

I'm late to the conversation, but I modified the OF icon a bit and made it smaller for Charmed. I don't think it is totally out of place. I would have preferred to make the grey border gold as well, I thought the OF people might not like it since they have just started a new OF Gold program (which Charmed should really be a part of...nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

I think I will take the suggestion to make the AppStore icon have the OF in the corner and the game itself will not.

The purpose of adding it was to attract those players that want more OF-enabled games, so having it use that icon on the AppStore will achieve that goal, and then I can leave the pristine version on the device itself.

I'll probably do that with the new Flight Deck icon too (still finalizing the look of it).

 

It can look good on certain games, such as 33rd Division, but not on others. But from a dev's point of view they shouldn't style the icon to match the OF/ Plus+/ etc symbol.

 

I don't mind them as much as the big SALE banner on some icons. I knew it was on sale when I bought, it. I don't need it on the icon to remind me.
