Hi TouchArcade! Back in 2012 we released our platforming game Swordigo, and we have been updating it constantly to help it stay a classic while working on what comes next. Now we are finally ready to announce our new game, Grimvalor. Update 10/26/2018: Grimvalor is now available for pre-order on the App Store for $4.99 (30% pre-order discount)! The price will be $6.99 after the launch on 10/10/2018. App Store Link (US): https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/grimvalor/id1369179088?ls=1&mt=8 What is Grimvalor? Grimvalor is an action platformer with fast-paced combat in a dark fantasy world. The development process drew inspiration from many hack-n-slash franchises and souls-like games, as we wanted to create responsive combat mechanics in a fun platforming game on a mobile device. Expect both a challenging and rewarding play experience! Grimvalor will be a premium game. What is Direlight? Making a game like Swordigo is a monumental task for just two people, and since we wanted to improve on all aspects of production we needed more people on the team. Luckily we came across a programmer and an artist interested in working with us, and in the spirit of co-operation we formed a new company called Direlight to fit in the new members. When is the game out? The game will be released on October 10, 2018. It is available for pre-order now. Stay tuned for updates, screenshots and more! Follow Us Facebook | Twitter | Website
looking great! and inspiration from souls-like games? tell us more, rpg progression, metroidvania or level-based, etc
Nioce! So.. may I suggest once this is released and after some time you decide to work on another game to make it swordigo 2? I know there’s ALOT of people hoping for one. This game looks good and you said it’s premium so as long as it’s not Tablets only in the end and I can play it on my i8p then I’ll be a day 1 buyer.
Hey there, and thanks everyone for all the love! We played a lot of games over the course of the development, and Grimvalor ended up being influenced by many of them in some way. Putting all these ideas together in an interesting fashion was a fun process and created a game that feels in many ways very unique. And personally, I think it feels a bit like Swordigo too. Grimvalor has a level and stats-based character progression, but also influenced by gear you find or craft. You can play the game both on a phone and a tablet. Ask away if you have any questions, we'll try to answer where we can.
Will this be a more hardcore level-based platformer or will it have RPG elements like level-ups, talents, spells/abilities and gear/customizations?
If I understand correctly, you are asking if the game is going to be one with individual smaller levels to complete. That would be a no. The game consists of several larger worlds to explore, much like the one world of Swordigo. And throughout the game you improve your character by leveling up and finding stuff
Nice. So basically there is character progression. A sense of your character getting stronger. Then I’m sold. Can’t wait for the release.
