Game Center screenshot: Have some extensive feedback ready too, though it is 3.35AM and I guess I should sleep or something.
Good job and thank you for the feedback! We just sent an email to those of you who are currently in the beta test clarifying the guidelines about public discussion. Talking about general impressions about the game is totally fine. We simply do not wish specific events in the game to be spoiled for others or screenshots/videos to be posted because the beta might not reflect the final quality of the game.
Just read the email. So.....mark my words. GLORIOUS GOTY CONTENDER. It’s just SUPERB. And congrats Echoseven!!!! Impressive!!! Trying to do the same but....
Thanks, DirelightVille — some developers and publishers are more sensitive to public discussion about games in private beta than others.
Since we're allowed to give general impressions.... It's truly awesome, hyper polished. easily the best game I've played this year and i'm only 1/4 or so through it!
That’s kind of where I am too, at about 1/3 in. Some of the best boss fights I’ve ever seen on the platform — nearly perfect, really. And pretty substantial, too.
I’m past halfway, 75% probably. And it keeps getting better and better. It’s not even what I expected it to be, it’s way better.
As great a game as Swordigo is and ever will be, Grimvalor makes it seem like some kind of children’s toy in comparison. And that’s not meant to be disparaging towards Swordigo in any way. I hope those who have played both will get my meaning, which is this: playing Grimvalor feels like playing a grownup version of Swordigo, and you should be excited by the prospect. This is an incredible game, made by outrageously talented people. I’d say I’m about 80% through the game.
I’m .. at the end anyways I wholeheartedly agree with everyone that it’s for sure goty contender. And as a huge fan of swordigo, pre price drop, I understand the grown up version thing. In the first post when they say they used various platformers and the souls games for inspiration, you can definitely feel the inspiration from the souls games. In some aspects this game can be difficult but imo there’s no point where I’m thinking “wth it was just easy as hell and now all of a sudden I want to throw my phone” to me any increase and decrease in difficulty came at a steady pace and this game is so polished it is dang near perfect, I mean I really had the hardest time finding any issues. Anyways I’m excited for the public to get their hands on it, and I’m excited to see if any the changes that are made between beta and final release, if none, it doesn’t matter I’ll still buy it lol. Btw the dev wasn’t lying the mfi controls. So spot on, the touch controls? Just as spot on I didn’t even use a controller for the first half of the game, I only switched so that I could give proper feedback using both control methods lol. I played the beta in an iPhone 8 Plus.
Pro tip for the other testers, especially the ones with family. Never, ever, EVER, yell and fist bump in the middle of the night after you finally defeated a boss at 3 am. For some reason, your wife won’t understand.
Just completed the game (not 100% which I’m trying as soon as write a report for the devs). I’m sweating. Speechless....glorious from start to finish with last stages absolutely out of this world. Games like this don’t come very often, once every few years. Straight to GOTY. Swordigo was amazing but this....this raised the bar for action adventures/platformer/whatever genre is it by orders of magnitude.
Eh.....I basically didn’t sleep last 3 days but I couldn’t literally put the game down. Act 3 is absolutely fantastic, you are in for a real threat.
Couldn’t do that this week, unfortunately, too busy at work. The opening section on level 3 (which I take is inspired by Dark Souls) is fantastic. Made it to the next checkpoint with only a sliver of health and no potions — and my nuckles white from tension. The difficulty in this game is incredibly balanced.
Just 100% the game (touch controls). Never had so much fun in my life. GOTY and one of the best action adventure I ever played, on any platform (and since Mission Impossibile on C64, I played quite a bit).
Awesome. Still plugging away. Just went through a section that was so well balanced between risk, effort, and reward, it made me stop and simply admire the brilliance of the level design.
Even after completing the game, I highly recommend trying to 100% everything. I discovered whole new (fantastic) zones. Not to mention you acquire great items (if only I had those for last stages!!!). This must be some of the best level design I ever experienced. 100% the game is a game on its own, and took me several more hours.
