Only 4 classes, you choose it at start, can't chance/upgrade it after that. You can level up the character to improve it's base stats, like HP, Mana, attack points and each class has different skills that you can learn via tomes found on the dungeon.
People showed interest in the iPhone/iPod touch version so I'm updating with a screenshot of the game with the iPhone screen size. You can play in both orientations. Also I think this thread could probably be inserted into the iPhone/iPod touch section too since I don't want to duplicate it there, might be considered spam. Anyone knows how to move it? An Admin perhaps.
cant help you move thread, but got some questions for you, from dev perspective and to rip off any good ideas you might have - you say you win by enring certain floor, is this just reaching it, or do you need to kill boss or something ? - when player needs to find tomes to learn skills (same system I have btw), do player find randomly skill for all class ( as in can player find skill they are not able to use) ? - what types of skills do you have, and how do hjey work ? for example, cooldown, mana system, limited uses etc. -leaderboard and scoring, got anything for that ?
-Right now you have to kill the final boss in order to win. Everything else is optional. -Players can only find skills for their own class. Once you find it and learn them you can use right awat. Warrior skills have cooldown, Wizards required mana. -Right now I don't have anything like learderboards or scoring. Might be a nice addition in the future.
is it one skill and you keep it forever, or do you have management of skills ? (im a sucker for skills/feats
You can keep it forever, you don't need to unlearn anything. the more you get the more powerful you become forever. Or until you die
Dont say you can die in this rougelike game ? (on a fun note, yesterday my illustrator got a recent build to check out something, and dificulty setting was set to simulate final levels, but without the stats/skills/equip needed.. she said after 10 mins : do you honestly expect anyone to even remotly finish this game ??) even though that was on a tad more hard than usual setting, the game is still pretty hard. How is your game, is it possible to defeat final boss at all, is it something to happen once in a blue moon . or can a player expect to win after a few tries ?
It's possible, it's just hard right now I have 3 difficulty settings, but luck plays a strong factor too depending on what you find.
I love the artstyle, consider me sold. How much depth is there in terms of item use? Thinking of games like Brogue where you can get very creative combining items to overcome obsticals.
Hi Steve, I never played Brogue but I can say that as far as items go you have your regular potions for HP/Mana. Then you have others that can grant you extra strength/life for a period of time. There's also keys to open certain doors/chests. There's also loot/treasure items that you can sell at store for money and buying more stuff.
There are 6 slots for equipment. Weapon, Shield, Helmet, Ring, Body Armor and Pants. You can find better ones on treasure chests, killing enemies (more rare) or buying them on a shop. Each equipment is procedural and it's power depends on how much powerful is the enemy you killed or where the chest is. As you go to a different floor weapons get gradually better. Every equipment piece may also have extra stats like more HP or extra mana while you have it equipped.
I'm estimating the release for early October. Also I expect to release a small story/teaser trailer within a week or so. How do you feel about the current game name? Quest of Dungeons? Good, Bad, meh?
To be honest, I think the name should be searchable instead of 'good'. Quest of Dungeons is perfectly fine if you ask me. It is very standard and 'cliche', just like my own 'lich tower of doom' ( I should have called it quest for the lich tower of doom with epic dungeon role play) With a bit of luck and a few sales, it comes up when people do searches for 'quest' or 'dungeons'. I guess 'dungeon' is a rather commonly used search term when looking for dungeon games. The problem is if it shares name with too many 'top' sellers that are shown long before your game. This is where you need to think about search visibility, and not 'perfect' name. My 5 cents
So, just wanted to share a small teaser I made for the game. I made this myself so it's not exactly professional material http://youtu.be/8LO2xd8Ij_k
Hi, I like the atmosphere of your game. To me the narration and story is important for a good game, worth more, than money any big studio has. And yours look fun
loved the trailer. Looks great. really liking the humor, and the game play looks almost like 100 rogues. i have been waiting for a roguelike similar to torneko or shiren the wanderer for a long time. will be waiting up on launch day to purchase first minute its out.
Thanks, it really means something for me. I did this trailer mostly to create a story/atmosphere on why you are trapped in a dungeon alone. While the player may press "Start Game", get thrown into a dungeon and accept it as it is, I decided that making a trailer creating some background, even if with totally ridiculous reasons would be cool.
