I'm rather confused to be honest, quite tired right now and not sure how to name the title for this thread. But basically in the publisher slot on app store where you would normally see eiter the authors name or the company name, what are the "rules" to this? Do you get to pick per app released or is it tied to your developer license? Additionally, say you wanted to publish under a buisness name "ABC Software", must the buisness name be registered and you have a buisness license? This is basically my question as I am curious if I should Be thinking about getting a buisness license before planning to release apps on the AppStore. Thankyou for answers. This is for USA.
You pretty much get to pick what you put there. When you browse on the iPhone it is the name you will see next to the app. If you have an individual dev account your real name will appear as the "Seller" in the app details. You do not need to have a business account to enter a business name as the publisher. Once you enter that name it is set forever, you can't change it (maybe by contacting apple support you can) and all your apps will be listed with that name. You will only be prompted to enter that info on your very first app submission.
In addition to lukeca's reply, applying for an Apple Dev account as a "business" or "company" takes a lot more effort (and processing) as opposed to an "individual" account. They will require business documents, incorporation papers, etc. Just be prepared if you are to go this route. Hope this helps!
