What's the purpose of the dots that follow someone's username? I checked the site's FAQ, and the only thing they resemble are the reputation marker things. The FAQ does a poor job of explaining what reputation is though, and I'm not even sure if that's what the dots are for... Someone want to enlighten me?
im going to guess online/offline i dont believe we have reputation, when a fourm does it shows how good/bad a posters posts are.
I'm sure you've noticed - but just in case you haven't - you can click on the markers to open some menu options for that person.
Rule of thumb on the internet: If you don't know what an icon is, it will often tell you if you hover your mouse over it until the tooltip pops up.
That's only because the button is within the hit range of the person's name lol..try clicking someone's name, and see what happens. Good call.
The source is: <div id="postmenu_1733778"> <a class="bigusername" href="member.php?u=74643">Ashflow</a> <img class="inlineimg" src="images/statusicon/user_offline.gif" alt="Ashflow is offline" border="0" /> <script type="text/javascript"> vbmenu_register("postmenu_1733778", true); </script> </div>
I was just interested by what you wrote, so I had a peep at the source. I think it's saying that clicking either the name or the online/offline image causes the menu script to run...but I'm not a programmer, so I'm not certain. Doesn't really matter. Just got me curious for a few seconds.
... Can I take back this topic? (I blame my ignorance on lack of sleep. I don't know why I didn't think of online/offline...) Holding your mouse over it was the 1st thing I tried, but it just brings up the little menu for the user (as stated before). I checked the FAQ and couldnt find anything about them, but it talked about rep. and the colors are exactly the same so I thought I'd ask here. And then I came back here in the morning and felt dumb... Thanks for the help guys! (not sarcastic )
