I have an iPhone 3G that i bought in January of 2009. I want to upgrade to the 4G iPhone next summer 2010! By that time AT&T informed me that I will be able to get the next phone at the subsidized price.

When i called 611 today they said if I purchase the iPhone 3G right now at full price, I won't get the iPhone 4G at the lower price...

Is there any way around this? Do I have to buy one from ebay unlocked/jailbroken? Or do I really have to wait and skip the 3G.

p.s. The other thread where I bought an ipod Touch 3rd Gen, my gf stole it... LMAO

Yeah the only way around that is buy a 3GS on ebay or craigslist.

If you have AT&T already, you don't need an unlocked/jailbroken one though, just stick your current SIM card into the new phone.

Otherwise if you get it from AT&T, you won't be eligible for two years to buy a 4th generation iPhone.

What's the difference from buying it at AT&T or craigslist?

I have to plug the phone in iTunes and activate it. right? Or when you put your sim in from the 3G it will just be like nothing happened?

Buying from AT&T they make you sign a 2 year contract for the cheaper price.

From craigslist you don't sign a 2 year contract, but you pay a little more. Thus, allowing you to still be eligible for the cheaper price with AT&T to sign a two year contract when the new phone comes out.
