If we come to think of it , the only thing competing against RR2 next thursday is the price tag of the other games.

But you gotta admit that in terms of racing there is no better offer than RR2.

i am not saying that is an excuse for making this game a 10bucks sale.
But hell if was firemint , i'd have done the same.
I mean after working their butts out producing a 2 million iOS game you can't be expecting this game to be priced lower than 10 bucks.

They are pricing this game in their logical thought after spending time , and money working on the production of this game.

its true that they could've put this game on a 7 bucks sale , in the lights of the price tag competition ahead , but there are some values on this game that makes the bar go up in terms of what we're getting for what we are paying.

Only 30 cars? Awww. I rather have them make it a 15 dollar game and don't go short on the features.

Well the first Real Racing didn't have many cars, probably about 8 different models in different colours/skins. And in Real Racing 2, the cars will be real licensed cars which is always good. Who needs like 800 cars anyway? I think 30 is plenty, especially when you have 15 tracks, 16 car races (offline and online) and 10 + hours of singleplayer.

And if each one is customizable (internally and externally) then there is plenty of variety.

Actually your right. I just came off seeing how many cars there were in gran turismo 5 so 30 seemed small. But i just read that you can customize and upgrade your car, so it's all good :D.

So, I've been playing the ipad version of real racing in anticipation of real racing 2. Had it for quite a while and thought it'll be a wise idea to play it before it gets obsolete within a week :p

But unfortunately, iPad isnt really great for racing games. Couldnt find any control option which worked anywhere close to iPhone experience. Only workable solution I found was touch controls for turning left/right with auto accelerate and turning brake assist all the way up, basically making the game easy as a cake. There are no customizable controls option in RR HD and braking is pretty difficult coz the button for it is located on the extreme bottom and isnt even visible. So everytime I tried to brake, it didnt work most of the times and the car just turned towards right coz the game thought I was touching the turn button. If controls were customizable and werent completely invisible, I could have easily used them for not just turning the car but to brake/accelerate too.

Another option for RR 2 HD controls will be using an iPhone/iPod as the remote for it. That will be the best possible controls for RR 2 hd IMO. I'm not counting on seeing this supported in the ipad version but it'll be really great if it does make it into the game.

Anyways, now that I've realized I'll be enjoying real racing 2 on the ipod touch more than I would on the ipad, it made my decision of getting the iphone version even easier. Maybe I just wanted an excuse coz I dont want to wait even a single second more than 16/dec 11 PM EST :D

    Hi shodanng,

This bug was introduced in the last update, as discussed here: http://bit.ly/ea7ZYe. I can confirm that the issue has been fixed, the update fixing this issue (as well as adding online multiplayer!) is currently awaiting approval by Apple (announced here: http://toucharcade.com/2010/12/10/real-racing-multiplayer-update/).

    Sorry for the slow reply.

    I'm glad I can help :)

I'm sure you can imagine that we're all super busy preparing for the Real Racing 2 launch, so I apologize if I miss any important questions.

g-unit-14, as you can see on this page, there are car customization options which affect acceleration, top speed or handling. You can use your in-game prize money to buy these upgrades.

Sam, reading through your in-depth game explanation, there were multiple instances where you guys mention that the player can purchase items and upgrades. Just to be sure, everything can be gotten from in-game prize money, correct? There will be no IAPs?

Although I really wouldn't mind paying for IAPs considering the effort put into not just this game alone, but all of Firemint's games.

All of the cars and performance upgrades we've talked about are purchased with in-game currency you earn by winning races.

Hope that clears things up for you :)

are the upgrade stuff in the game only some kind of packages, like turbo package bla bla bla or you can acutally determine the transmission and gears and angels of the spoilers etc. (hope you can understand this, not a native speaker here :))

sam, will there be updates or IAP that would let more cars into your fantastic roster. Basically will you do what you did with real racing 1 with adding the exotics after the game already came out?

My biggest question concerns the track selections...

Are they simply polished from the first game or new entries entirely? Are there dirt tracks mud, water? Will we see any track events like waterfalls, cows grazing, day/night cycles, weather?

I know there'll be some night tracks which will be cool. I doubt there are any dirt tracks. There's bound to be some animations in the background like waterfalls and cows, if you remember in one of the trailers it shows a ferris wheel in the background.
