aiming for a pre Christmas release. Maybe if they meet that deadline, it will be approved in the first week of Jan.
After watching the gameplay video, I wasn't really blown away from the gameplay. Just seems like RR1 except with a real car. But then I moved on to read that article on some features in RR2, and was super excited about the more detailed career mode with customizables, etc. And the support for all iPod Touch devices definitely was great to hear! I'm so excited for this game, there definitely is no need for Shift on my iPod anymore. @Ddyracer123: I think they mean they will have it RELEASED pre-Christmas, not sending it in for approval at pre-Christmas. If your case is correct though, then unfortunately I will have to wait longer for this game...
After re-watching the trailer, I thin there are some really neat little touches. I like that the road has some glare, light mapping. There are some slight shadow effects. I also really dug the ferris wheel, wind turbines and camera flashes going off in the crowd.
Yeah I noticed all that too. It's a shame there's no dynamic shadows on the interior, that'd really be awesome. The external model of the car looked nicely crisp and detailed.I hope they add some extra shine/reflections to the cars.
I found the first to be dull and bland and relatively boring, although technically it was impressive. The career mode was uninspiring to say the least, and they need to do something to revamp the career mode, to spice things up and make it more interesting. It needs to be less straight forward affair. Give us some options or a little variety or something. The track design was "meh" as well, and needs to be more imaginative. Basically, they need to do something to make this game more fun. To make the overall experience more enjoyable. I really like some of the ideas that NFS Shift incorporated to try and reinvigorate the sim racing genre, which can at times come of as being a little stiff.
Well, they said it would have a 10 hour career, but that doesn't mean it will be automatically a good 10 hour career. I don't know if it will incoporate different types of events. The customization is nice, as is earning money and buying cars, instead of unlocking them and just using them as is. I have no doubt there will be improvement. There has to be. I really like the career progression of Motor Academy, which of course was ripped off from Gran Turismo. And the tracks were well designed in Motor Academy as well. I was surpised at how innovative Gameloft was in terms of track design, although they could have borrowed those tracks from somewhere else for all I know. Real Racing had stiff and rigid tracks. I guess I'd like to see tracks feel more open, even if they aren't. City tracks and countryside tracks, not just modified oval race tracks. I put quite a few hours into Motor Academy, even though I am not a huge fan of sim racers. If it's good enough, I will still play it. I played the original Real Racing only sporatically though. It was very overrated, to be honest. I know Real Racing 2 has the potential to be a lot better. The question is, will it be. I will hesitate to buy this at a higher price point. And I am the king of buying games at 9.99 and 6.99. I've purchased a ton of games at those price points. Here, I'm not so sure. At 4.99, I'll get it no matter what. At 6.99, I don't know. I suspect it will debut at 6.99. 9.99 has gone out of style, so I'd be surprised if Firemint went there. If I thought a game was worth it, I'd pay 9.99 in a heartbeat. I'm just not sure considering the previous track record if this game will be worth it. Lots of hype, but will it deliver?
the graphics look unimpressive. I mean the rims/wheels look mediocre at best. I understand it has to play on all models but If the first gen ipod touch can play MC2 online multiplayer with no lag, then i'm sure it can run a bit better graphics than what the trailer provided. thats just my opinion though. Don't get me wrong i'm still going to get the game just to have it in my collection of apps but i'll probably stick to need for speed shift for now
People people people, the game is still in the production phase!!!!! Why is everyone commenting like it is a final product. Do you really think this game will be any less impressive than the first. This is Firemint we're talking about.
The 1st game was a very different type of racing game to GT:Racing, Gran Turismo or Forza, where the focus is on the cars - collecting them, upgrading them and racing them. Real Racing was based on the idea of competitive racing classes such as touring cars, where the focus is on the abilities of the drivers rather than the cars they drive (which are effectively identical). The career mode was built around that concept, so each race was against cars that were basically identical apart from their paint job, meaning that the focus was actually on racing the AI. From my own experience with the game, I found that the difficulty I played on was the deciding factor to how enjoyable it was. On the easiest settings it was a breeze, with no challenge from the AI whatsoever, and consequently I would lap up to 30sec a lap quicker. If I played the game on the hardest difficulty level (which unfortunately had to be unlocked by beating the easier ones), turned off the assists and turned up the AI, it was rather challenging. Sometimes just 1 little mistake could cost me a win. That to me was good fun and quite a different experience to the years of playing Gran Turismo et all, where you can basically buy the majority of the career events by either entering with a better car than the opponents, or by souping up your existing car to be better than theirs.
Have to admit that teaser gameplay footage has me concerned. I always felt that the handling was a little missing and grip was too high. Looking at the reply the car looks to be taking really tight corners at 100+ mph which is just unrealistic. Suspension and tyre grip modelling really needs to step up I look forward to seeing how this develops and I sincerely hope this was an daly build without some of the physics The graphics look pretty solid though and the new cars and hopefully tracks should make it decent.
Well the first Real Racing was essentially an arcade game that was dressed to look like a simulation. And I'm guessing that this game will be similar. I hope they give an option or slider to change between arcade/simulation physics.
I just started playing RR again in anticipation for this, except I can't even pull off 3rd place in the division A races now. Gotta step my game up... =/
Not how they sell it.... quote from their site.... Take control If you can drive a real car, you can race in Firemint Real Racing. Intuitive controls take care of things under the hood just like an expert pit crew, while you focus on your racing line. Accurate surface variations including asphalt, grass, gravel and ripple-strips affect vehicle speed, responsiveness and handling. Its the way racing games are meant to feel.
Is that referring to Real Racing 1 or 2? edit - I found it, it's for Real Racing 1. Well Real Racing 1 wasn't really any more realistic (in terms of physics and handling) than an Asphalt or NFS game. What made it feel realistic was the track design and track racing nature of the game. I kind of liked that, although for this sequel I'd like to see an option for more realistic physics because my preference between realistic and arcade handling changes as frequently as the wind.
Wow graphics are absolutely stunning. With just a little bit more work on the car lighting, I would say the graphics are about the same if not better than Gran Turismo for PSP.
Yeah, the car models in PSP Gran Turismo are pretty good. But the backgrounds in particular look bad, and the overall graphics just look grainy and pixelated to me. Especially when compared to games on the retina display. Even though the graphics in the original Real Racing are simpler, I still think they look better because I can't stand the jaggy edges and bad textures. Gran Turismo PSP Real Racing
