    And...

Wait many months for a release, by then Real Racing 2 will be old hat. No thanks.

If I do decide I'd buy it, I'd only purchase (put protest on hold) if they made good by giving iPad owners something definitely worth the wait. Extra cars or tracks or something worth waiting for.

Okay well clearly you still are not understanding this. Developers are not gods sent to the Earth with incredible technological skills. As I have said earlier, we both agree that the iPad is a better gaming platform than the iPhone and iPod Touch. But this also means that the iPad had some more advanced details that require longer development times for the apps. Please, re-read that sentence! iPad games need more time to develop, and that is why they come out later, and are priced higher. iPad users BY NO MEANS should have some "benefits" because apps get released later for the iPad. You should already be thankful you have a superior device to us, thinking that iPad owners are being left out and deserve more out of their apps just because they wait longer is totally ridiculous and absurd, and downright ignorant greedy.

    It's not greedy.

Please answer how, I'm being greedy for being realistic about the game being older, with new games coming out...that they should add something extra to make the game seem newer by the time it comes out on iPad?

When a game comes out on a console, let's say XBox 360 - it may have dlc in the pipeline. Then 6 months later (when said game is older) it gets ported to PS3, it may have that dlc included.

Resident Evil 4 came out first on the Gamecube. When it was eventually ported to the PS2 it came with many in game extras, to sweeten the deal as the game was older.

That's how I relate real racing 2, as I see it. By the time it arrives for iPad, it will not be a brand new state of the art title, and may have lost that "I have to get it" luster. By the time it finally arrives, I'm sure they'll have had a team deep into Real Racing 3.

You say, it takes a bit to make an iPad game...how could it be too different from having to program at the ridiculous resolutions required for an iPhone/iPod touch 4 retina display? Other than the differing ipad screen ratio?

As crummy as Rage was, Id software showed universal hd games can be done. I wish that's what Firemint had chosen to do.

    They didn't.

Right now, Real Racing is on my radar. Will it be in 3 months? 6 months? A year? Probably not. Aralon will have arrived. Infinity Blade will have arrived. The AppStore landscape may be significantly different. The landscape may not.

If they want my dollars, at that point the deal will need to have been sweetened.

I'm sorry if you disagree. It's how I feel. It's how I'm sure any iPad owner with interest in Real Racing 2 feels.

Fire mint is a good company and I'm sure they'll deliver a product worthy of praise. I'm just not willing to wait an unspecified length of time. They chose to ignore the iPad. I will choose to ignore their game.

Oh dear, did you just bring in game consoles as support for an iDevice argument? *Sigh*

Video games are video games. The idevices are relatively new. The only precedents set, historically exist on consoles, pc versions and Nintendo/psp handhelds.

So yes, when the game is older and finally arrives, I would expect an extra feature or two. The iPad version will probably be pricier, so how is this in anyway unreasonable?

You both ignored that entire post, and this is the best you could think of? A correlation to a console release?

    Sigh.

Umm, yeah, I did ignore that entire post cause your comparison to gaming consoles really exposes how little you know of this subject. Why are you arguing for your case when you know nothing about iDevice game development? Obviously, I'm no professional, but the things I've explained to you are super simple to understand. There is no point in me to continue trying to explain to you the disadvantage of iPad owners when it comes to app release date if you can't understand even the most simplest aspects of the subject. I have no problem with you not buying the game when it is eventually released for the iPad; it's your loss, not mine.

My point is, I'm sure the iPad was already released when they started development. It should have been just as much a lead platform. I'm sure the title was a big success for them, as for months it was constantly on the top iPad games charts. I dont understand why they'd neglect it, is all.

Happy face. Let's make peace not war.

The iPad was probably released when they started development. But you're still missing the point. If they developed it for the iPad from the get-go along with the standard version, that would slow development down for BOTH versions. It is in Firemint's best interests to get one out to the majority consumer base first (the standard version for the iPhone and iPod Touch), and then slowly work on the iPad later. They aren't neglecting the iPad. Like I said a couple times early, development times for the iPad is simply more time consuming, and that is why the HD versions for any game is always released later. NOBODY is being neglected, Firemint is simply acting in their best interests not only for themselves, but the consumers.

Yeah and they made an iPad version for the first game, so it's highly likely they'll do the same for the sequel.

PC games are usually released 1-2 months later than their console counter-parts...I'm a PC gamer.

But it's always worth the extra wait, since the PC version is always the best. You get a really high-res game on a big screen with controls made just for YOU (iPad) . Would you not think it's worth some extra wait for the iPad version since the iPad games are usually better due to more screen space?

They are aiming for it to be released in December, which is looking pretty likely, but not definite.

Those screen shots are sick!!! Probably from the iphone 4 though. I wonder how RR2 looks in 3rd Gen devices.
