Isn't that a bit too quick? The game isn't even really out yet in the world so we don't know what the majority will say. I won't talk about the freemium aspect but i will say that I miss a free camera in the cockpit where you can move your head around (like the one you can see in the intro video). It's also one of the most beautiful game on IOS. No doubt about that. Though the engine is actually not perfect. It's only rendering what you can see in front of you, causing the rearview mirror to show the track disappearing behind you. Small detail I know but I just wanted to mention it.
errata: someone pls help me understand the mental problems that justify someonw enjoying being forced to wait real time to be able to play a game again or even accepting such tomfoolery calling Eli a retarded was never the point of this post, sorry i mistyped man.
If EA slipped me thousands of dollars to defend their obvious horrible IAP decisions, I too would defend it. Just saying, cuz money is evil and I'm week
Wow, ads too? I feel like I need to wash my hands after playing this. Admittedly the banner on the main menu is probably the smallest I've ever seen on an iOS game, but clicking on it and having the game bring up a huge, blurry advertisement for Lynx gives me the same sense as having an adware-infected PC with pop ups raping my screen every time I use my internet browser. It feels cheap.
I don't know. I think if people had the choice between IAP or buying the game outright for 20 bucks...they'd choose the latter with less complaints. People spend that kind of money on those mediocre Final Fantasy ports.
Please read my post again. I didn't say the game should be $20. I said at a decidedly high level of money spent at iAP we should be allowed to experience the game without timers. This is a simpler solution than having two apps, freemium and premium, which is the more logical route. Also, thanks for grouping me with people who don't want to spend a cent on iOS games. I spent $23 on Ravenmark, $16 on Summoner Wars and a huge amount more on music making apps.
When I was young there used to be a theme park where you paid for each individual ride with entry to the actual park being free. I went a couple of times and went on the odd ride... A bit more travelling involved but there is a park when you paid once to get in and can go on everything. I've been back to this one many times over my life and it's still going strong, the other is shut down. Ok, I know it doesn't quite fit exactly but as someone that has gamed all my life the whole free to play model I find extremely frustrating. I for one would happily spend a good amount of money on an App/Game that I considered worthwhile, so on the flip side when Little Inferno was released on the iPad at £2.99 and you hear murmurings of moans at the price; this can be just as frustrating. I think IAPs can work if you are actually buying something to speed progression or something you keep, not where you have to feed the meter to keep going with the basic playing of the game. Jetpack Joyride I bought the coin doubler IAP, this for me seemed fair... I'd of probably paid more. I could of spent extra on coins but I was happy just to play the game to build my stash, but the option was there for others If they wished. If Real Racing 3 was free, really good and it had an IAP to unlock the full game for £10, then I might well invest here as well. But sadly I won't feed a game constantly to be able to keep playing, I just don't see a draw in this. I know my friend's also won't, so there goes the competitive edge and the multiplayer aspect if this is also affected by the way it's setup? It's a shame it's all panning out this way, and it's not just the consumers fault. The market is saturated, apps get lost, 69p sales were a quick way for exposure and to get your app to shoot up the chart... but if everything goes this way we'll have a similar problem all over again, but surely even worse?! EA had a big license here for the iOS world, and they could of shown that a proper priced, well produced game could still reap the rewards and sit at the top of the chart. Now I'm totally sure this'll do great 'Money Grossing' wise, but not from me and I do fear for the future... beyond the handheld market as well. I just don't feel this model is a sustainable future for games... We need to move away from the 69p mentality and be prepared to pay a price for something that has been crafted over many months or years; but how we get that change to happen when the 'Grossing' charts just show the support for current frustrating model I don't know ...I'll vote with my wallet and not spend on RR3, but others I know will.
Heh, this is somewhat amusing. Buying that car you've been saving up for used to be a joyful moment in games... but not in RR3. Buying the car is just the foreplay, the excitement doesn't start until it's delivered!
Yea, and I paid $6.99 for both MC4, MC3, NOVA 3, RR2, and much more. But think of the 500 million people out there. We are hard cores, they are casual players. Casual players would want this kind of playing, one race, do their thing, and come back. No offense. Why isn't this out in indonesia? I want to try it.
*lol* reading this makes me think: hugh. And I really was so excited and anticipated that? Freemium will finally kill the mobile gaming - thank you Gameloft, thank you EA, thank you _blank. I wish that they really fell of their money-craving-butt with this. I dont even have the interest to invest my time to download 1.8GB wait for the install to get disappointed after one racing. Easily paid $15 for this...
Okay, if anyone on Cydia wants to make a tweak to move the clock five hours further be my guest. That's a great way to skip that shitty waiting time. But, again, it feels like you're cheating the game. The only difference is that you're not burning your cash.
Well I finally gave in and spent $129 on the delux pack. This is what i got . . . . . . Timer . . . . . . . Pay 10 coins to speed up post . . . . . .
yeah yeah yeah right we all know the cheapskates bitching, but why the non-cheapskates must take it in the rear for this? keep this freemium IAP bullshit for the poor retardeds that thing that a mobile game doesn't worth money, and a single IAP that unlocks all the time limitations for a full game price, eh? There you go, ev'rybody's 'appy.
I spent a good £10 in Shadowgun Deadzone because I was constantly playing it and wanted to support the game, once they changed how servers kick you after 1 game and messed up the in-game money I completely stopped playing it thus not spending money. Real Racing 3 feels like that to me, the wait timers do not make me want to spend money but get a little angry instead, why would I want to pay £6.99 for the viper +65 coins pack when I can race that car for an hour and then spend 1/3 of those coins to race it for another hour or sit around for 6+ hours?
Yes,the waiting times are horrible. I do wonder however how bad it all will be with a descent car park. I'm not shy of a bit management although i don't think that should be part of a true racing game. That they put you in a situation where just before you can buy a new car but you need service and wait 6 hours shouldn't suprise anyone seen the very nature of the pricing model. I am very curious however how bad or well it would be with buying a starter pack. I guess however that if anyone here would have bought some IAP they'd be not too keen to tell.
If anything, all this game has shown is that it will be the butt of jokes. More wrecked car pics please haha
