You guys may get a kick out of this app blog. It's obviously not serious, but its still in good fun http://destroyapps.weebly.com It'll likely never take off, but I figured what the hell. I was bored
Kind of like a more mean-spirited, poorly-written, and juvenile version of Krapps. (Not that Krapps doesn't have its share of juvenile, poorly-written posts.) While I was still blogging, I did have a special section on my blog called the Hall of FAIL where I'd rip apart a few of the App Store's worst, and I wasn't nice about it either. Never dedicated a whole blog to it though -- maybe I should have. It would have been fun, and it isn't like there's a dearth of material. (No, don't worry, I don't have the time these days to start another damn blog.)
I haven't really decided where I'm going with it yet. It's a bored idea on a whim. I may not do anything else or completely change it. Who knows. I actually hate blogs so the whole idea was to make fun of all of them in one shot. But reading back through, its looking more like a terrible reflection on myself. Probably would have been funnier when I was 17
I'm not really sure that it's possible to effectively parody blogs themselves. There aren't really any significant features common to most you could pick out to caricature; blogs are what you make 'em. As to the content ... well, it's just me, but I'd have gone for a more wry, bitingly sarcastic tone and less of the sophomoric "Oooooh, aren't we clever, Mr. Crappy Developer?" tone. But that's more a matter of taste.
I've decided to do something I enjoy doing anyway. In the spirit of one of my more popular youtube vids (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1MvnsTlJ9E), I put up some beginning grass roots opengl programming tutorial code on there for the absolute beginner. That way I can get some degree of originality flowing through the site. I'll keep the reviews going, but it won't be a 1 dimensional thing anymore
