when you restore your ipod. do apple automatically update to the latest iso4? as my ipod is so unstable. even safari, itunes, etc is crashing. before i was blaming most of the apps crashing on not being compatible with iso4.. but now im thinking it has more to do with the operating system it self.. and thinking something went wrong. cause this thing is to unstable. almost cant use it with out wanting to throw it against the wall. anyhow, before i do just want to make sure it dose not update the os. im gonna go ahead and jailbreak thing thing. thank you chris.
If you Google around you should be able to find the iOS4 firmware. Download it, then option + click on Restore, then navigate to the firmware. If you're going to JB, then you definitely don't want the newest firmware [4.0.2 I think] because it completely breaks the JB.
thanks for the feed back. i have a copy.... i downloaded onto my hard drive when i originally upgraded. unless apple purged it with out my knowledge. anyhow i think im gonna just go with a new firmware and hope it fixes the bugs. i swear i never had any problems with is03... and I will wait for a jailbreak for the new ipods when they come out. i have not jailbreak my ipod up to this point.. i can wait a little longer to experience what the is04 should be like .. jail sucks! chris.
Whaaaaa? Its a really simple JB to enable the new features.. And as for the JB for the new iPods; who knows when that will come out I'm sure devs will work hard on one, but they have nothing to work with, and I'm sure Apple will seal up any exploits on them.
ok. well i finally got time to restore. yeah, it forces you to install the latest iso4.2 which is good to know.. was gonna try jailbreak but thats ok.. maybe this 4.2 will fix all the problems iv been having. crosses fingers.. will def download and save it to disk.. and manule do it next time.. so i wont lose my current os if i do not want to.. now waits for the new ipods to show up!! chris.
