Alright, well I can AT LEAST say it sure isn't random! I won't say our algorithm is perfect -- it's far from it -- but it is improving by the day. It's also a lot easier to see how the beats line up when you're playing in person (and ideally with headphones). Our four difficulty "filters" are pretty much based on sensitivity, so playing a song on "Easy" will likely produce far fewer notes than a song on "Extreme" that digs deeper into the more subtle sounds of the song.
Great to hear! I'll have my eye out all week. I'm assuming you guys plan to continuously update and improve the game post launch?
That's the gameplan! Although would you ever really expect me to say 'no' to that question? Better beat detection, themes, and more customizability are at the top of the list. The most challenging will obviously be improving beat detection -- nobody really knows how to program the perfect virtual human ear, so it's mainly experimentation at this point. But we have been working on it all week, so with any luck maybe we can come up with something that hasn't been tried before. Being a die-hard rhythm gaming fan myself, I'd love to come up with the perfect beat-detection engine!
Based on the gameplay video I think the beat detection looks great. This game will solve the biggest issue that plagues every other rhythm game - the quality and variety of the music. If you don't like the music selection in Rhythmatic its your own fault. Patiently waiting for its release...
@dalbertson: Thanks! Our status in Apple's queue just changed to "In Review," so unless something goes terribly wrong Rhythmatic's release should be imminent...
Ive been watching this topic for the past week and BOY am i excited... jeez, i used to play this game called Beat Rider, it was surprisingly popular but then apple stopped publishing and supporting it around 5-6 months ago, maybe longer... This game does exactly what I want, which is what Beat Rider did, to play my own music, i cant friggin wait, RELEASE THE GAME ALREADY APPLE *@YG¡¥˙˚∆˙∫∂å˙flˇUYIUYGH!~~!!!
I'm going to purchase this upon release, so keep me posted! I hope this isn't like Tapic, where you have to use in-game money to actually select songs from your own library. I also hope it's compatible with the older devices? It would be nice
Unfortunately, not in this version, but I am considering trying to add a perspective-view theme in a future update.
No worries here -- everything is unlocked from the get-go. Wasn't a fan of the coins system myself. As far as I know, Rhythmatic should work well with older devices providing that they have iOS 4 so the app can access the music library. To be honest, I didn't have the opportunity to test it on many old devices, but I can attest that it runs lickety-split on my 3GS!
This was what Tap Tap Revenge, imo, should have been. Very good detection. iTune's credit is ready to be transfered to your bank account as soon as this hits
Hahaha, man I hear ya. Can't even begin to describe how excited I was when BeatRider was finally updated to include a landscape view! Always had trouble with those pesky slider notes tho... And holy smokes -- I didn't realize it had disappeared from the App Store!
Yea Im pretty sure the site doesn't work either. I can't log in to my account, have been trying for some months- means I can't play my music or upload/download anything -.- waste of money. You can now see why I was so ecstatic about this anyway, the only alternative now, Tapic, seems like it sucks from the reviews >.<
It's out! Rhythmatic is now available! Head on over to the new thread and get in on the opening-day 99c sale!! TA thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=1644171#post1644171
