Just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible? I have purchased a ton of games but don't like to keep all of them on my iPhone. Is there a way to remove the app from the iPhone but keep it's saved data intact on my computer? I know I can choose which of my apps to sync to my phone and easily remove things that way, but that only ends up keeping the app on the computer, none of it's saved data.
1. AptBackup just backups a list of all your cydia apps so when you update and re-jailbreak you don't have to re-install them all manually. It doesn't backup ANY saved data. 2. If you're jailbroken you can SSH in and transfer the saved data file to your desktop and then SSH it back in later. I did this with Galaxy on Fire when I got a new phone.
Sorry appbackup. That one backups the app saves and you can restore them. App by app or all at a time. I do all at a time whenever I go through a delete purge and then one by one when I re-add games. Much better than transferring over stuff through FTP. You can FTP the appbackup folder once in a while
It looks like it might be possible to do this on a non jailbroken phone. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10203174-233.html It seems that iTunes does store all of the apps saved settings and information, but when you select to remove something from the device, Apple decides to delete all of that (not sure why apple didn't add a setting to retain saved info...) If I am reading things correctly, if you just manually backup the app data stuff before removing the app, you can then replace it if you decide to resync the app with your phone. Not sure if iTunes would pick up that information on simply resyncing the app, or if it would require to actually do a restore after resyncing the app to have iTunes push that info to the phone? Might have to test this out when I get the chance.
