I'm a biased beta tester, i admit, and it's time to post some honest impressions... This labor of love is an amazing beautiful atmospheric underwater highscore chaser with lots of lovely details to be discovered. The sparse and spheric music completes everything wonderfully. But watch out while your chasing your little fishes (=stamina) to survive, there is no time to gaze the environment. Danger lurks around every stone and occasionaly, this game can feel as hard and unfair as the real deep-sea life is, indeed. Eat or get eaten, simple as that. While my initial thoughts (judging from the gifs/video) wished this to be a one-hander game, for best results you'll need a second hand, no doubt. You'll find out when you play it. Initially i also thought that you can buy your way to the top of the leaderboard with the stars (=stamina) you'll find as an iap, but you'll find them throughout gaming, too. But the star-recharge-timer demands of you to survive for quite a while first, before you can activate another one. A bit of both worlds, imho, pretty well balanced and done. Also, there is a little bit of a learning curve to the controls. You have to get to know the jelly's momentum to move with precision. A point i don't like at all is that i can't do a swipe forward and an immediate swipe backwards to dodge an enemy. The delay is too big and it seems the Dev will stick to that, pity in my eyes. Others might get around my issue easily. Another "real life fact" would be that you'll get no immortality for a second or two after being hit/stung by an enemy. Manoeuvre with care...and a second hand. And again, only consumable iap's (up to $3 only, so far) and no restorable star doubler as in many games lately. Looks like i'll have to jump over my iap-shadow and buy some stars to support this gorgeous game, or i'll watch some "beloved" ads for support. Edit: of course i'll be buying 200 stars for $3 (=biggest iap) This is not one of those lifeless, uninspired and lazy "randomly generated" left-right games we see every week. This game is well thought out and comes from a very dedicated one-man-show. Also, he listened up to the testers...and still is. Definitely highly, highly recommended to give it a try. Btw, installed beta size MB 208.
Hey big thanks Qwertz! I'll make sure to add that star doubler in the post release update. It still amazes me to see the app is 208MB on iOS, but only ~76MB on Android... I'm going to work hard on cutting unused iOS code for update #1. The game is out today on Google Play and the Amazon App Store, stay tuned for the iOS release on September 3rd! And if you still want to play it right now just join the beta here or send me a private message with the e-mail address to send the Test Flight invitation to. Some more teasing!
Oh and by the way, Kurt, I can add an almost instant opposite direction movement, that's a good idea. I dunno why I never thought about it... Maybe because I got used to the controls very fast and it didn't bother me. I'll try my best to make that change in update #1 or #2. I just hope the animation of the jelly will feel natural with fast changes of direction. So maybe I'll make it a lot faster to move in the opposite direction but not immediate. I have to find the perfect balance between gameplay and smooth animations! I also had feedback asking me for a "zen" game mode for those just wanting to explore the abyss peacefully without the score chasing/timer aspect (but with the creatures and obsctacles). I hope I can get that ready for 1.0.1... if not it's gonna be on 1.0.2!
Just powered up a spare Android device so I could play this. Its so lovely! Great job! Looking forward to the iOS release.
Thanks everyone! @Rexxie: Me and my nephews love Cartoon Survivor. You guys did a great job. Good news by the way, the game is validated by the App Store review team and is ready for release on Thursday! Working hard on version 1.0.1, it should be a big update. After the release on iOS, don't hesitate to post your suggestions here or to send a mail to feedback [at] seashinegame.com ! Enjoy your sunday.
Wow i really cant wait to thursday, beautiful looking game which looks really fun to play, hope you guys will get featured, you need to get even the big promo in my opinion
I can't share my replays because it won't let me sign in to my everplay account it says the name is taken, so do we need to make a new account just for the game?
This game looks amazing, hope it fun as it looks, if it does really 1st place top chart app store material, and i hope it will be IAP fair, lately it feels most of the game are not balanced in a fair way which try to make all our money, but if this game will be fun and fair, i surely find myself spending some money on it if it worth it
Thank you guys! @dreadnok: Weird... Thanks for reporting this issue! This is bad bad bad. :S Are you still unable to sign in? Testing asap. You're not supposed to create a new account for the game! @shiny: I guess the star doubler coming in the first update will suit you better. Edit: @dreadnok, I signed in on Android, no issue. Checking tomorrow on iOS! Just to be sure, did you click on the button asking you if you already have an Everyplay account?
I think that was the issue, it would never ask if I had an account already, but I think I got it under control now
Anyone have a weird instance where they got stuck and the only option was death? I went into a cave to escape a shark and it ended up being a dead end. Thankfully the cave had the crystals to provide infinite light, but the shark never left the cave entrance, even after a couple hours of leaving the game idling. I had to run into the shark in the end =(
@dreadnok: Great, please let me know if you encounter this kind of issue again. @Unlockabear: That's Jean-Claude the shark. He's very passionate in everything he does! Thanks for reporting this issue. I got stuck in this exact same spot at some point. The shark should go away after a few seconds but for some reason he doesn't! It'll be fixed in 1.0.1. Until then, sorry to anybody getting trapped there. :S
Thank you Duelante! Yes, the game will be available tomorrow on Apple App Stores worldwide. Doing my best to release version 1.0.1 next week!
