I feel like iOS games are progressing rapidly in their polish(eg. graphics, mechanics), but regressing in intuitiveness and gameplay. I mean, shadowgun has only 3 times you do during combat. duck, shoot, reload. Did the devs think, you know, maybe you should add something like roll and sprint? I mean, the game isn't as engaging as I hoped it would be The graphics are a-mazing though. The same goes for Cresent moon too(eg. Siegecraft and Evertales). It's kind of disappointing. regardless, I'll support these devs in hope for a better turn.
Gotta agree with UmbraVir. The guy walks too slow... And the aiming is almost impossible from the left side. Which I'm used to.
Actually, I take my words back! I realized the shoot button can be presed while aiming with same finger which is not available in MC and the levels are quite fun
How is this compared to Dead Space, which I haven't gotten around to finishing? How is it compared to MC3, which I haven't even gotten around to buying? I was considering buying Tomb Raider. Which is better? Thanks in advance.
I don't think Shadowgun is comparable to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light(That's what you're referring to right?). In contrast to Dead Space, & MC3, I would rank them in these order: MC3, DS, ShadowGun. MC3 I liked best because of its multiplayer(campaign is really generic, but still really fun). DS is good, but once you beat it, it's... meh... Shadowgun lacks the addictive drive to keep you playing(at least for me it did- look at my post above). But in the end, all these games are great and since Shadowgun is on sale for a dollar, it would be a disappointment to pass it off.(at least keep it purchased in your account so you can come back to it later )
How FUN is this to play compared to say Modern Combat 2 or Nova 2. Graphics look great, game time looks solid, but it doesn't matter unless it's a yes to this next question: is it a fun game to play?
I really liked nova 2 and mc2, but found shadowgun terribly boring. I bought it at launch and still haven't gotten around to finishing it. Still, at 99 cents its worth a try.
I have MC3 but don't enjoy it as much as Dead Space, probably because it feels just like any other war-themed FPS out there. Those games feels more or less the same since the time of Counter Strike. That said, I love war-themed games and am looking forward to iBattlefield 3. Dead Space gives me the best gaming experience so far on iOS. I can go on and on about it, but to keep it short, it basically has a superb atmosphere, great dialogue, sound fx, graphics, smooth framerate and the controls feel like they're actually crafted for iOS, instead of just slapping a virtual dpad on the screen. Overall, for me it's DS > MC3 > SG.
Agreed I definitely feel the same way. I've never played any of the non-iOS Dead Space games, and I don't have a particular preference for horror, but the game felt really well suited to the ipad. The problem I have with the other FPS-esque games on the app store is that they often feel like pale imitations of better console games. I know the NOVA2 is a favorite, but I hated it with a passion. Lock-on aiming, generic waves of enemies, no pacing to speak of. Dead Space nails all those things, and feels like it's just the perfect length. Still on the fence about whether to try Shadowgun. It's only .99, but on the other hand, all these .99 purchases seem to add up quickly.
^ just started Deadspace yesterday. Great game! Shadowgun is well worth the dollar. It's a well done generic 3rd person shooter. The graphics and controls are great. As soon as they add multiplayer then the game will be much better.
