control First, make sure you are using two hands, one finger or thumb for the boost, the other to swipe. Second, on Shark-levels you're not supposed to target fish so don't try to eat them. The dolphin is meant solely to be controlled for combat. Its a 2D screen and a 3D world where we bring you a side - wide view of the battle. So we calculate the 3rd degree of freedom with an Ai. That Ai is very smooth - if you use it for combat only. You're not supposed to be able to move arbitrarily. Don't think about how to control it, just think about which enemy you want to follow/attack and let your finger swipe it there. Don't watch your finger, watch the dolphin, the enemy you wish to attack, and let the control flow. You must have a target in mind in order to guide Bandit with elegance. Once you develop a flow - knowing where it targets and where you want to target - you will be able to control him with deep precision - but again, only in the context of battle.
can you please x10 times give us an option to toggle the vibration when our mammal is bitten? i'm one of those people who never uses vibration on controllers...
wohoo after this update, with the flipped controls and no vibration, i should see my effectiveness rise (btw, 1vs1 i can beat anything the card shows, but with 3 or more fishes i have severe trouble, even with the first species)
This is a video of an earlier prototype of a jump-only game mechanic. There is a timer on the left, overall score top, and everytime Bandit jumps, a jump-score which accumulates on the right. Notice the bars that move up - each one corresponds to a factor I include to generate the score. I don't remember off the top of my head, but they are Poise, Spin complexity, height, etc. Also - the quality/score of your jump gives you more seconds. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel In updates, I will slowly re-introduce this concept into the "free jump" cards where you earn pearls instead of points. The pearls (or some additional metric), will ultimately go to unlocking further content and 'power ups' etc.
I had 30+.. now I'm down to 25 because I was swarmed by what ACTED like Pirhanna.. but I know aren't. I want the pearl for jumping thing... I do that awesome... and then I fall back in the water and experience that 1-2 seconds of not really being in control and get eaten. And watching the dolphin does no good when it swims right past the fish I'm lunging after. Open your mouth, it woulda been eaten. And now thanks to the dogfish... I'm down to 20. Seems unjust.
Well, remember the fish are "smarter than their species". This is an important element in the back-story. They garnered more "essence" than they should have - so they behave extra aggressive. They made a "deal" with the sharks. Hopefully we will elaborate on the story - it really is quite beautiful in its totality. That's a pretty good score so I'm assuming you're getting to the flow Yes - that had to do with a hydro-aero dynamic drag issue where I had to cut off the boost otherwise the dynamics would get messed up. However - I think I found a way to avoid singularities in the tensor matrix so hopefully an update will fix this.
re-battles So are you aware that you can repeat any battle any number of times without incurring a pearl-loss - after the first loss ?
Dolphin Birth Today breathtaking - especially how she rushes to bring the baby up to the surface to breathe. http://www.independent.co.uk/i/video-matrix/video-dolphin-gives-birth-9806041.html
baby dolphin Yes, I think you need to be on desktop - but its definitely worth checking out. Watching the young mother frantically move like that is almost indescribable. Touches an instinct in us. Love, survival, instinct, compassion (or all of said things) - whatever color glasses you see it through, its the same amazing thing. Almost inspires me to make some kind of level where you do the same thing - try to bring the baby up to breathe. Maybe you play a level as Bandit's mother or something - and have to do exactly the same. It would be very difficult though - I feel like it would have to meet a certain level of respect and care, and maybe a game platform isn't the right one. Perhaps at a science center or Aquarium - with a larger display. So one of the interesting things we learned along the way is that in the wild, and captivity, if the mother doesn't know what to do - other females in the pod will help and direct the baby up for the first breath.
So, I've gotten to red pearls. The functionality of the dolphin swipes still makes no sense. I've stopped trying to go after the sharks but instead go after the clusters of 3-4 fish. It's ok. Maybe the update'll help me out a bit.
We'll that is a fairly impressive feat- hitting red indicates you possess a significant level of reaction time and dexterity. If I juxtaposed your playing with someone who cannot pass yellow - you would have a deeper appreciation I think of the "motor-connection" you have achieved with Bandit or are close to achieving. You are controlling it with the dolphin. You may be less inclined to harmonize your intention with Bandits via the ai than some.
Concept Work So this is a piece of concept work which reflects the elaborate back story - which we will piece together in subsequent updates to the games, and new games. This scientific institute is connected to Bandit and the characters which form the name of our company, Max and Haley Bell.
Thanks DolphinFlipJumpSpin - I'm excited that I got Promo Code #2 and am even more excited to finally try this game out. I've been reading this thread periodically over the past few weeks and it looks to be quite a unique app! I'm looking forward to seeing how the app develops from here
Look forward to your thoughts. I have resolved a few control/camera issues so the update should be pretty rad!
