The topic says it all. I have an iPod Touch 2G that I bought about 2 months ago at Costco for $170. I was wondering if it would be worth it to return my iPod and get the $170, then put up the rest of the money and get an iPad 3G? What do you iPad owners think? Is it worth it? Should I bother?
Another thing is: How much would subscriptions to magazines like Sports Illustrated and Times cost? How much are movies for the iPad again? I'm on my iPod Touch so I can't check
I don't know, I was hoping for some people's oppinions who have dealt with these issues before. I have a Times and Sports Illustrated subscription already, so whether those apps carry those over or not is actually a BIG factor in my decision.
Hi, My opinion, go for the Ipad, not the 3G model though. As for the magazine subscriptions, they are $4.99 per issue for most of the magazines and your subscriptions do not carry over for the Iversions. Hope this helps. David
Well, remeber that if you give up for ipod you give up a large amount of portability. Other than that, the ipad has many advantges, but some games are still better on ipod. Video and web are better on ipad though.
Hi, My post above should read that, if I was in your position, I would go for the Ipad over keeping the Ipod Touch. Portability is not an issue for me but should be a consideration for you though. David
I agree with your above post, David. However for me, portability is an issue. iPod fits in my pocket, iPad ......
Hi, I understand your point but really this is the OP asking for insight and them making a decision that works, for them, not you. David
Considering that what you'd get from selling your iPod will barely cover a quarter of the iPad's price, you'd probably be better off waiting for your next paycheck and keeping your iPod. Unless you have another iPod, an iPhone or some other MP3 player, you're gonna be missing your music pretty quickly, since the iPad is not a good replacement portable media player. 3G is generally a disappointment, as pretty much anywhere you get can decent speeds (i.e. in large cities), wifi is readily available anyway. That's not to say it's never worth it, but it depends entirely on your local coverage - do some research before making a decision, and don't rely on AT&T's maps (New York City, for example, has pretty poor 3G coverage, despite AT&T's claims to the contrary).
I'm not quite sure what you are getting at here. I just thought portability was a worthy point to be mentioned. Whether or not it is a problem for me, it is a fact that the iPad is not as portable as the iPod.
Hi, Just making sure my comments were being directed to the OP and not so much to others reading, since the OP was the one asking for insight. There was no intent for insult, just making clear where my comments were directed. David
