I find this disappointing. My disappointment is not toward Gameloft, but the fact that they are the only ones actually trying to make good hand held console games for the iPhone. Now, I'm not disregarding EA, or NgMoco, or any of the hard working ones like that. But I constantly hear about all of these original titles that Gameloft is "ripping" off of. Except for GTA CW and maybe some unexpected few in the next couple years, I doubt that any of these "original titles" will come. The fact that none of these "original" companies are coming to the iPhone to compete with Gameloft or the appstore market is just depressing. Although I have to admit that I Love Katamari and Monkey Ball were pretty awesome.
I agree, we only see really good games that define the iPhone once in a while, but it seems like Gameloft makes those types of games, and most of them dominate or put a new meaning in their genre, like MC:S, NFL 2010, Gangstar, Assassins Creed and soon to be Dungeon Hunter. Gameloft keeps suprising us every week with these new amazing games. I think the App Store would be even more of a success if we had these developers like EA, Ngmoco, Freeverse, Etc. act more like Gameloft and just give us a buffet of great games.
actually, i can kinda see that happening, but kinda not at the same time. skating games are hard to make on the iphone with good controls
Kidding, right? Touchgrind doesn't look too hard. And Vans is very easy for me to control. Maybe you're talking about Grind.
oh man! a skateboarding game from gameloft huh...... being a skateboarder for more than half my life.....i would love to have a good skate game on my phone.the other skate games that are currently out....suck. i hope its like "skate" too(pretty much the only console game i still play....i always figured the control scheme for skate was so simple n figured it would be pretty easy to pull off on the idevices. i read someone had the "dual sticks" control scheme already...which i think would work really well. that...er tilt the idevice to turn and swipe gestures(same gestures they use for the skate game) anywhere on the screen for example....a simple swipe of down then up....would be an ollie.it would be so easy and you wouldnt have any virtual sticks er control pads on screen. i dunno either way.....im happy to see a skating game comin out of gameloft.....even tho they already have too much on their plate as is....i think itll be pretty cool.
Just check out Mike V Do or Die for a real skate game. www.mikevdoordie.com Will be released in November!
Gameloft is a publisher they don't make the games Like most publishers they fund the creators of the games and make sure they reach a certain level of polish before they will release em. It's not a bunch of guys in their basement making hundreds of games. What they bring to the table is funding and marketing the right games. To be clear, Gameloft does not make these games. Gameloft just makes sure that the games they feel have the most potential in the iPhone/iTouch market get the most marketing exposure + funding. 101 Economics. Gameloft = EA
Hmmm.. I never actually knew that. I know Chillingo does that, but I thought gameloft had liike 100,000s of people and they all worked on different games.
I'm pretty sure that Gameloft makes their own games, they have their own production teams. That's why Alone at War has the Published by Gameloft logo, not official Gameloft logo, and the Alcomi Developing logo on the main menu. And it's not based in a basement, since Gameloft is not an indie company, and has offices in Paris, NY, San Francisco, and many other places...
The only sports game of theirs I've bought is Real Tennis 2009, and it's pretty darned good -- better than something like Tennis Elbow on the Mac/PC.
Gameloft is retarted i emailed them asking if skate nation is more like skate or tony hawk and they said we do not provide free downloads.
