Pretty much what we've been expecting based on the myriad leaks: Glass and steel, 960x640 res, IPS screen with 800:1 contrast ratio (that part I wasn't expecting -- should be nice!), front and rear cameras, the latter with flash and the predicted 5MP camera and 720p HD video, and the former including video calling over WiFi, A4 SOC, secondary mic, etc. Some unexpected things, though: 802.11n (speculated but never confirmed), iMovie, the metal casing acting as an antenna (also speculated), gryroscope, the addition of Bing search (meh), and the odd rename of iPhone OS to iOS (which I suppose makes sense). Also, $299 for 32GB is pretty sweet. Unfortunately that's also the big letdown: No higher capacity model. I was really hoping for at least 64GB, it seemed like the natural evolution, but making such a huge improvement to the device by giving it HD video, to say nothing of the hundreds of thousands of apps, and then crippling it with the same 32GB was a huge fumble. I would have been totally cool with it if they doubled the storage and tacked on $100 for it. I was expecting the usual cascading price ceiling starting at $399 anyway. It's nice that's it's cheaper, but I'm really bummed that I won't have more storage to play with. That just stinks.
... Those Bastards... WHERE THE **** IS MY VERIZON IPHONE? HUH? **** OFF AT&T GO SUCK A BIG ONE. *Enraged with anger*
Anyone have any idea about buying it without the contract (unlocked)?. They didn't mention anything about it. Usually they show prices for the unlocked models.
... that's orgasmic. I bet Verizon feels silly for turning Apple down, but man, I can't wait 'til their contract with AT&T is over. This is such a tease.
The larger battery makes this a must-have for me, but is it really too much to ask for a storage capacity upgrade? There's no excuse for this "revolutionary" phone still to be stuck with the same lousy storage options that the iPod Touch had 2 years ago. Guess I'll be selling my 3GS for an iPod Touch 3rd gen once I get the new phone.
No 4G :\ I'll wait to see what they have for next year and I'll upgrade to a 4G phone this year. My 3GS has been nothing but a let down with how Apple want to restrict you. I mean there are 4G phones launching that have 8MP cameras and a screen 2 inches bigger. I just can't get hyped for the Iphone 4, does nothing new and is already inferior.
Wow this phone looks beautiful. The advert made me smile all the way through, the precision and all of its feather are relevant to anyone, and wow, I just think it's amazing.
Wait! Are they gonna be doing an iPod touch 4th gen with it? I want an iPod touch with the camera and iMovie! Augh!
Whats wrong with AT&T? I use O2 in the UK which is owned by BT and when I go to America, cause they have a deal with AT&T I switch over to their network and it runs perfectly.
so what about the people like me? I bought an iPhone 3GS last July. What are my options for upgrading?
I was surprised to hear how effective the new battery is. It probably won't be exactly what they claim as battery life never is, but it sounds undoubtedly better than the current one. That said... I'm still not sure I want to worry about battery life in a phone at all, which is why I went for the iPod Touch. My current phone battery lasts me almost a week, and the last thing I want to do is start playing music/video/games on it and running it down. If there's one thing that's important enough to warrant a battery all to itself, it's a phone.
Yeah, and I thought it was funny how Steve Jobs told everyone to put their laptops on the floor and turn off their wi-fi.
Why would you want to right now? Okay sure I said about it being amazing and beautiful, but look what happened with the iphone > iphone 3g > iphone 3gs every time they got better, why go for the first iphone 4 release at least wait for the 2nd so they get all the bugs rolled out. with the integration of the iOS 4, it'll be quite similar anyway, without a few key features, but who needs to call your long lost sister everyday through video calling. Not everyone has an iphone, and not everyone wants to watch UP on their iphone when they can go watch the DVD or bluray...
