It wasn't. The reason WiFi didn't work is because there were 570 active WiFi hot spots being broadcasted from Verizon MiFi's, Sprint Overdrives, etc. with who knows how many clients connected to them. That's beyond the limit that the 11 channels that 802.11b/g uses over the 2.4ghz spectrum. If you've ever lived in a dorm or high rise building where everyone has their own access point you run in to the same issue. What a silly thing to speculate on.
But, the iphone was released sometime last year, how could your 2-year contract possibly expire during 2010? Mine expires June 2011...
No I pay the new contract price plus an 18 dollar activation fee. I'm hoping the iPhone 4 battery will last me until my next contract but we'll see. I don't think it will be too hard this time though because I mainly use the iPad at home now.
Couple of random features they did not mention that I don't remember being available before. Voice Controls And it looks like we'll have wallpaper for the 'desktop'. Edit...nvm, looks like Voice Controls exist in 3gs. Since I have the 3g, never saw it.
I bought mine in July but I'm pretty sure I would have to pay the early upgrade price of $400. How does that work?
Voice control has been available on the 3G and 3GS (and 2nd/3rd gen iPod if you get headphones with a mic) since OS 3. Home screen wallpaper has been known about since the first OS4 previews.
Haven't read the whole thread but just got some time to post, I sold my 32gb 3GS on Ebay for $400! Which roughly $40 goes to shipping and ebay, maybe a little more. But I am for sure ordering this on the 15th!
The Apple iPhone page says you can keep up to 2160 apps on the phone. Right now, my 3G dies if I sync more than 350. I am disappointed that a 64gb model is not available and my suspicion is that's being held for 2011.
Just found out that the "no commitment" prices are $599 for 16GB and $699 for 32GB on AT&T http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=18004&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=30863
