I missed the .99 cent sale. I can't justify paying 5 times that much for the game. 2.99 I can justify. Do you guys think it'll get a permanent price drop to 2.99 or so at some point? I think that's what devs should do, once you do a price drop, even a temporary one, you shouldn't go back all the way up to the full price. You should set a new lower price somewhere in between the temporarly price and the original retail price.
There'll probably be a sale in a while, maybe in 1-2 months if they wanna keep any trust they have left in early adopters, but the 99c price drop for the game was waaay too sweet a deal to permanently go to $2.99, if that makes any sense. This game really needs a lite version, though. I take it you've never played it before?
Just buy it! It's worth the price. Anyway, if you have Steam, you can download Peggle Extreme for free.
I would hold out, but it really is an awesome game worth the full price (especially if you've never played it before). The whole 99 cent thing did EXTREMELY WELL for PopCap, you can guarantee this won't be their last super sale.
Is the way-to-quiet music bug still in there? What about the grafix? Did they improve the quality, yet?
They did it to get to the top before the new iPhone owners came in and then changed it to $4.99. It worked pretty well. However, they probably won't do it again until September (new iPod) so just buy it now.
Actually, according to an article on Kotaku, they did it as an experiment and partial-protest against the AppStore's glut of throwaway 99 cent games: http://kotaku.com/5291845/1-peggle-hacked-the-iphone-store Viewed in that light, it's hard to say if they'll ever price it that cheaply again.
No I have never played the game before, and I'm not a fan of puzzle type games or what not, which is why I don't want to spend $5 on it, esp knowing that it was sold for .99 (don't ask me why, it's subconcious, you don't want to spend $5 to try out something that everyone else bought for a buck). $3 I would do.
Great article, thanks for the post, I had no idea I was part of the experiment. Now, I know how bad you must feel that you didn't get it for 99 cents, but honestly it really is worth the 5 and much more. I didn't believe people when they said that, especially since I bought rockchinko first and did not like it. I love to bargain hunt and this was probably my best buy so far. Seriously get it.
I know $5 isn't much money at all. I've spend that much on tons of games (EDGE and Quantum Collapse in just this past two days). But usually those games are all from indie small name developers so I felt like I was helping an upstart dev carve out a profit for themselves, so I didn't care much about paying a bit more. But I can't exactly feel that way about PopCap Games can I. And like I said, it's subconcious, you don't want to spend $5 to try out something that everyone else bought for a buck. But yeah, I probably will buy it at some point once I play out my current crop of awesome games.
It's worth the price it was initially submitted at, It's well worth more than the price it was previously on sale for, and It's well worth the price it is currently at!!!
I bought Peggle on sale (never played it before) and I personally think this game is worth three dollars, not five. Its fun but you just hit the orange pegs and hope for the best. Good deal at $0.99 though. Wonder if Star Defense and Resident Evil will get a price drop?? Hopefully three bucks each
It's the little things about Peggle, though, that contribute to make it truly awesome. For example, when you finish a level with the flippers out at the side that the lobster dude gives you, preventing your ball from going into the 10,000 bonus point holes. Or you can have two orange pegs left, on polar opposite sides of the screen, and your ball with one shot somehow manages to bounce around and hit both of them, as your face slowly turns to watching it unfold. Things like that make Peggle really shine.
I bought Peggle at 0.99 as well, and initially I didn't like it. But I played a bit more and now I find it's a good game for those short breaks. Can't say I'm addicted to it though, there are better games out there.
It was worth the five bucks that i and many other people got it at. It won't get another price drop for awhile. Prob not till september like someone said
You cant always rely on hope. Peggle involves strategy. Especially once you start doing the challenges. Relying on hope will only get you frustrated.
True, you only get lucky during really rare instances. You gotta plan the angle your gonna shot at, the number of pegs below the target, the wall, and in later challenges, the worm holes and obstacles. It's a great game, really. 99c sale was the best thing to happen to the store.
