Instead of arguing over the point of this thread, here are some games: Gloop Eliss Germs Enviro-Bear 2010 Jet Car Stunts Spider; Secret of Bryce Manor
For me, the biggest overlooked game in the App Store is Pirate Wings, which is, as someone described it in a review, a combination of Star Fox and Mario Kart. Early on it was justly blasted because of poor performance, particularly on first gen iPhones and iPod Touches. On the 3Gs and 3rd Gen devices (neither of which had even been announced when Pirate Wings came out) it runs like a dream -- 40+ FPS without hiccups -- and it looks and plays like a bona-fide console title. Unfortunately, it was too late to make a dent in sales, and the developer packed it in after one update (which fixed some crash and AI issues). At .99 its a ridiculous bargain. BTW, to any one who actually gets the game based on my post: learn to use the air break! Makes all the difference.
Idk man, I just don't see the greatness in this game. It's so-so, nothing special - I mean one continuous level is nice as a demo, but it's the same thing over and over and over. Yes, minigore is the same, but different weapons and toons change it up, and I'm not covering up my character with my fingers. Necromancer Rising has a cult following on this forum but I also didn't find it that great. The UI and menu system are really cluttered and not the best to look at, just the overall look of the game wasn't that pleasant. As far as the original post, the only rare gem I do have is called Trace. It's pretty simple, you control the little person to the safe zone by tracing in walkways with your finger for him to travel on. The environments and obstacles get more and more challenging and theres a crapload of levels. Also it's free http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpwApO9MrKQ The other two most original games I have are Sword & Poker and MiniSquadron. Both are amazing, but then again they did get the attention they deserved. I was thinking of picking up Fox vs. Duck, any thoughts?
I would definitely pick up Fox Vs Duck! And just to prove I'm not just promoting my own game - I highly rate any puzzle game by Lab Pixies like Flood-It!2. I also love playing "Duck Shoot" (kinda super simple parlour game) - I dunno, I have strange tastes!
trace! noone had an excuse to not own it, right under Vay its my favorite app i had on the origional iphone. Trace is truely amazing. anotge i thought of is piyo blocks, the most addictive connect 3 ever.
Most people haven't, sadly. 19 story missions that take place in the air, under water, and in space. Kart-style action racing with 5 unlockable characters and a bunch of ships. Great controls (calibrates before every level) and character design. Only $.99.
Wow Pirate Wings looks great. I think I may have glanced over it a while ago. I'm just wondering if there is there a sensitivity bar?
Yes, there is. It does take a bit to get used to the controls because your ship is very responsive and breaking is pretty much necessary at times. The first few story missions are a bit of a task-based tutorial; make sure to go through them before jumping in on the racing portion.
Would have missed Pirate Wings totally if not for your posting over at Star-Fox Like Game thread. Looks really good. Will be picking it up later. Talking about recognition, I own most games mentioned up there, not every one did it for me (didn't like Eco Punk), so it's still a matter of personal taste.
