If there are any Console and PC-Steam gamers on here, what do you think iOS iPhone/iPad could adopt from those platforms to give it a more "gaming machine" feel or 'console mode'? -'GameCenter' is Apple's take on Xbox Live achievements, sign in and messaging source for games. -how about an interface like Steam, that lists, displays all your installed and downloadable games with small details to each game like: time played achievements News (from the devs/pubs) dlc community Links to related websites like Touch Arcade # -PS4/Xbox console mode: If you have your iPhone/iPad 'airplayed' or connected to a tv it will act like a console. You can navigate and launch in and out of games with an MFI controller (you don't have to get up and press the touch screen in between games) -customize the gaming interface: Themes Wallpapers
Definitely something akin to xbox live. Gamecenter is more less being phased out, isn't it? I hope that means Apple are planning to implement something better to unify the gaming experience on iOS a bit. The fact that you don't get the feeling of one big community or get to have a consistent friend list across different games is something I miss now that my phone is my main gaming platform.
yeah, I heard Gamecenter was either being phased out or put more into the background. Apple could have definitely done a better job with the service especially with updates that can effect games (still annoyed by the whole Bioshock debacle), but compared to the earlier alternatives it was more unified. I mean, if iOS (in particular the iPad) is meant to be a "light computer" replacement, it ought to at least match what pcs can do in .....the games interface that is. Steam is by no means as easy to use as consoles, but it has some of the convenience of listing games, able to navigate the menus with a controller and integrates the Steam community in one page with the press of the 'RB' button. SCENARIO It would be awesome if I download my games, and it automatically goes into a specific game folder/App. All my games are not all over the place in the 'home' section, but are all in one App. 'GAMES' App GAMES App will have Gamecenter integrated into it. -allow you to customize the look (to a certain extent) -can configure 'GAMES' App to- do not disturb, airplane mode. -categorize your games - tags, genre, star ratings, MFI controller support, cloud saving, last played, achievements, game community numbers etc. -links in the games app that are related to mobile games - websites to 'TouchArcade', 'Gamevice' etc. -can navigate and launch in/out of games within the Games App with an MFI controller like consoles do.
It's never going to happen. The App Store has been around for close to 10 years and mostly the landscape has declined in the last 2-3 years. Apple doesn't care about making it any better because they make money hand over fist as is so why try to do anything different.
