I've been playing Sonic 4 and am really enjoying it. Was scared off at first by the "Episode 1" and the original $6.99 price tag. Great game that really has Sonic back in form after all the miserable 3D console games (although I hear Generations is pretty good too). After hearing people say Sonic CD blows this away, think I'm going to have to bite on that as well.
Those holding for a 99c drop to Sonic CD might be waiting a while. Just my personal feeling after briefly surveying Sega's pricing history. Does Sonic 4 ep1 finally have Retina Display? That situation is a bit ridiculous, especially when there exists a hack available to jailbreakers specifically to play such a title in crisp HD. I personally think it's a huge mistake on Sega's part to indirectly tie-in those emulated releases with Sonic CD by pushing them forward in a wide-scale sale. I bet a few gullible players will be buying these after getting caught up in the (well deserved) Sonic CD hype. Sonic 1 & 2 on iOS: slowly step back and move along.
I picked up that Sonic 4 Ep1 and Super Monkey Ball 2 Sakura Edition. Sonic 4 Ep1 has very good graphics, but definitely not Retina yet. Sega really needs to get on that. Definitely getting Sonic CD as well.
I remember them having something about putting Retina in in October. :/ Guess they never got to that? It was in the app description, not sure if it's still there. Or if it already got updated with Retina... hmm.
Bleh, was going to pick up Sonic CD but there was a price increase... Guess that I'll be sticking to Sonic 4 for now. :S
Thanks, I do have all Sonic games and bought most on day 1, including the expensive Sonic 4. The reason I didn't mention Sonic CD is because it's not even on the list (notice how I mentioned 'the list'? ) Sonic CD is indeed good but I like Sonic 4 too, the controls are fine, the levels are good, but I just don't quite like the physics, eg. how you can stop very quickly from top speed or how Sonic opens himself when falling from a jump instead of retaining his ball position.
Price increase? I don't think it was ever part of the sale. Still a great game for $1.99. I think I actually still like Sonic 4 better, but I think CD will have more replay value overall.
Finally picked up Sonic 2, which I've been meaning to for some time. It's easily the Sonic game I've played the most and it was a total blast playing the game with my daughter last night (not that she can play well, she's 2 - but she did already know who Sonic was, and loves to watch the intro to Sonic CD - SONIC BOOM! )
