Love that quote! And yes, I find that I need to tune what my difficulty level is to make sure that it is challenging for me, but not so difficult I get destroyed.

I find that I keep moving it around and sometimes I want a game where I can just obliterate everything with my large dreadnought fleet.

    Just finding out about this!
LOVE this game, thanks for bringing it to iOS.
I'm completely flummoxed on why this hasn't made the front page yet.

    Worth a read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4X

    "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate".

Bought it last week, havent sink my teeth into it yet though. I love 4x games but once Im hooked they tend to take over most of my non obligatory activities so I needed to take care of somethings first lol. This weekend im gonna go nuts playing the heck out of it.

Never played the original but im expecting great things of this one!

Edit: i know its off topic but any other 4x gems on iOS? I already have Civ Rev, Distant Star, Orion,Ascendacy and warpgate.

    Just a little warning...

At first, after playing Starbase Orion, and a couple other 4X titles that were pretty depthy, I didn't think much of this... but after about 3 games, I was hooked. Just... if you don't like it at first, keep at it, and give it a real chance. Play more than a couple games, it might just REALLY grow on you. =oP

well... there's a couple in the same sort of... vein, as Spaceward Ho! in that they're kind of minimal 4X titles...

    Vincere Totus Astrum
    9 Colonies
Weird Worlds: Return To Infinite Space
    Conztellation

    Then...

    Imperium Galactica 2

    **edit**

oh... sorry athros posted while I was writing... =oP

My two favorites are Spaceward Ho and Master of Orion 2! I played a ton of Spaceward Ho! in college. To the point where one person had the good machine, and there were a bunch of us playing a game taking turns on his machine, until he finally kicked us out at 4am.

I like Spaceward Ho! since it has the same strategy of where you are going and who you are going to exterminate, but doesn't get bogged down in the bazillion of tech trees. Though, I do love those (but normally play Civ) when I do those.

and sorry, I should have left Conztellation outta there... that's more like a TBS/puzzle title... I guess if I added that, I could have added Blue Libra, Space Harvest, and a couple more to that list...

    sorry... sorry... =oP

I got Space Harvest but I feel its more like a RTS or something on that vein..
Blue Libra also intrigues me and is whishlisted because I dont know if its any good, hows the gameplay on that one? I felt its kinda like a 4x but with just the one ship, but im really on the dark here.

Yeah, Space Harvest is totally an RTS... and so is Blue Libra... an objective based RTS with Fleet Building. I guess it could kind of be considered a mix between 4X and RTS...

you take over planets and use their resources to build up your fleet so that you can take down the enemy before they take you out. You start with just your big ship that can produce fleets, and then go from there. As you progress you unlock more types of fleets, but you can't go back to previous missions and use them.

If it had a skirmish mode or MP, it'd be one hell-ov-a game...
