Hahah! Well, if that didnt convince you, it was the dev who said worldwide release is going to be this thursday, and they distributed advanced promo codes to a few TA members to try and build up hype for the game's release, and it worked flawlessly, coz the game is just pretty fantastic.
I'm starting to think accidental releases/giving codes to members a week early works really well in drumming up attention for the game. It certainly doesn't seem to have hurt Spooklands or Deep Loot at all. I'm still loving playing this, it's perfect for the five minute moments and also for the longer sessions if you're trying to unlock the next arena or power-up. Sometimes after the honeymoon period ends I'm less enthused about the games but this is still a very easy recommend for next week.
May be true for those 2 examples, but you gotta admit these examples are pretty fantastic even without the hype, once one TA member posts imps, it'll snowball.
I see that it worked. I'm definitely jealous that I didn't get it early. That's ok. I'll wait down here in in my misery while all of you sit on your pedastools playing and talking about the 'Spooklands' club. It's discrimination I tell you. Not sure what kind of discrimination because I haven't made that part up yet. LOL Nah. It's all good.I have so much stuff on my ipad, that I need to clean it up first before I play anything else. he he. I purchased 4 different games last week and probably won't get to them for several months! Sigh... I'll be watching on Thursday though!
It didn't get mentioned in the "Coming Tonight" article but this is out at midnight and massively recommended from many of us.
Just as I imagined it would be. It's like Crimsonland except it's entirely controlled with one touch. I liken Spooklands to it because enemies come from the edge of the screen rushing towards you as you dish out the deeps to blow them all up and score. Movement isn't with dual sticks however. You tap to shoot in that direction and the 'recoil' pushes you in the opposite direction. Simple, eh? There's also some bounce physics here where you and your shots can hit any of the four walls enclosing you in each of the 3 different maps. One touch controls can be iffy depending on individual taste and Spooklands is no exception to that possibility, especially since you move away from your tap. That's not to say it's bad as it becomes intuitive as you spend time with the game. It really is solid and at home with the mobile platform. Each weapon has two modes of fire: tap and hold. Tapping fires a small bullet (or in the game's case, sneakers and hatchets) while holding charges your weapon making your shot a huge piercing blast. Power ups occasionally spawn in the middle of the room, each with its own two modes of fire as well and keep things interesting by offering different behavior. They can boost your regular weapon, add a 2nd charged projectile, contral-like spread shots, curving balls of exploding fury, and much more. Charging is usually the best way to go but comes with greater recoil so you might bounce off a wall and hit something a la billiards. Risk vs reward. Skilled players will find this a minor drawback and abuse charging nevertheless. As you score higher, you unlock new maps and powerups. There is no leveling up or consumables to deal with so it all depends on your own personal skill. Recommended? Depends on you liking this kind of tap to move. If yes, you'll have a blast with this (affordable) endless high scoring game. I recommend playing on an iPad for more precise aiming and less screen blocking with your own finger.
I will download this game because of this. Congras to the dev with this cool art stype! PS: I normally don't ready the whole game's description. If the developer is here, please shorten your text as concise as possible cos it will helps you out!
I actually prefer to have a decent description and enjoy reading about the different aspects of the game. I'll have to think about this one, it's not really my type of game but given the praise for it I'll have to see if I find myself bored not wanting to launch anything I've already got.
