This sure is a tough crowd, in some long-gone day and age listening to customer feedback and delivering an update with the most wanted improvements in a week was considered good service Anyway: We wanted to give the leaderboards a fresh start. Hopefully they'll have even two days of fair competition before a jailbroken pirated game starts sending in bogus scores. Your old scores are not lost, and remain on the device. To give you a choice if you want to compete in the leaderboards with lower scores, we added a score reset button in the Main Menu options screen.
Frand, if you can detect the scores are from pirated games, can't you block them? Of course you can't block them from downloading and playing the game, but maybe you can filter and delete those bogus scores? It's only 90ish, but could've been 20ish with my old score. Ah well.. it's no big deal compared to the Open Feint badge (yes, I'm an OF badge hater and still not over it). I love Secret Exit and its appreciation for polish and beauty, so it's surprising you guys could do something like that. Can't you please move it to the lower left corner so it's not distracting and preserves the white space of the icon? to make it feel more designed and considered. Really, people would still know it's there.
Whatever checks there are can be removed by someone with sufficient skills and the intent. Piracy isn't just about lost sales, it's also about spoilt fun. We're sorry you feel strongly about the badge, but please take a moment to consider our point of view: on release almost all of the feedback and reviews concentrated on the single flaw of missing online leaderboards (and a small number of levels). Now that the feature has been added, we feel it is important to communicate its presence to every potential customer in the most visible way we can. The size and place of the badge has been adjusted by our art guy, and we stand by his eye for aesthetics. As before, if you wish for the icon to remain without the badge, install the old version of the game to your device and then sync the new version via iTunes. The old icon should then remain.
No, it's not to be put in the game itself (client-side) but from your server (server-side) and not before but after submission, so you review all the scores submitted, sort it by category (pirated vs non-pirated), then delete all the pirated scores. Is that possible? No it doesn't remain. I had the old version on my iPhone, downloaded the new version via iTunes then synced it, then the new icon popped up on my iPhone. It's been always like that with all apps, or did I do something wrong? Can you please write a step-by-step tutorial? I still have the old version on my back up drive. I understand your reason, so be it. Anything for Secret Exit as you guys make awesome games. In the future though, please either incorporate Open Feint from version 1 so you don't have to announce it loud with the badge or a custom online scoreboard system
This is an excellent update and very quickly produced. Thanks a lot. It's a shame you have to spend so long discussing the icon and OF badge. It's pretty obvious why you need/have it on the icon. Great update, very pleased.
Unfortunately no. The beauty of OpenFeint is that the server hosting is handled by OpenFeint, and all that trouble is off the developer's hands. We can only work with the client side. Anyway, no need to panic yet, and OpenFeint guys have been positive and active in their feedback and support. Moderating leaderboards would be an annoying chore, but let's worry about that if a real problem presents itself It must be my mistake then, and this behavior has changed with some iPhone OS version. But in the past I recall vividly that the icons changed only when downloaded directly to the device, or when deleted and re-installed. But updating an application by syncing over an already existing version didn't update the icon before.
If the Open Feint guys are active and in touch with you guys, hopefully it can work out a badge that can be turned on / off from settings, though I guess it's our of your hands since Apple forbids them? Anyway, thanks for the update.
Great Update! Love the new levels. My personal favourite is The Ledge but Loose Buildings is a score heaven BTW check this screenshout out! He is having such a relaxed time
As thegamerocks06 said great update! The last two levels are by far my favourites. "The Ledge" really does justice for the camera system, there really isn't a bad angle in that level (except if you look from above, then the camera will zoom out too far) Any chance to have the skis attached to the feet and slippery in "Loose Bindings"? (they could detach off with heavy impact)
Thanks! I have to admit The Ledge has made me cringe more than any other level in Dismount so far. The bindings on the skis are very loose from the beginning, hence the name. Now with the leaderboards in place it's unlikely that we'll tamper with any of the established levels. However, a new level in the future with attached dynamic elements is of course possible. We only need 10x the current sales to make back the development costs so far
Pretty much driving me bonkers at this point, primarily because I'm so addicted to the game. Any chance this bug will get some attention in a future release? Mr Velcro-hands is making things a wee bit less fun.
The soft interpenetration is a feature of the physics in Dismount with some wanted and unwanted situations. It's covered in more detail in a previous post. Here are some screengrabs of what we've put in since 1.2.0 was submitted: Players can now pick their own face from the Facebook list, and clear the selection. Online leaderboard top scores listed in the bottom right of every scenario button. And also in the intro cam over every level. The above, and some more minor fixes will be in the next update.
@ Frand Wow! I’m loving the update and the new features of the upcoming 1.2 version are great, specially the worldwide high score. I never thought I would like this game that much!
Thanks! Oh, and just to clarify: 1.2.0 is available now (barring some download server problems on the App Store). The above screenshots are from the next version which will be submitted soon-ish. 1.2.0 features online leaderboards, but their integration is more elegant in the upcoming version.
Nice! Maybe it can work like in Super Monkey Ball where the camera rotates around and it goes faster to focus on Mr. Dismount if we tap & hold the screen?
Frand look at OF, you've got me by mere points! I'm on yer tail though. Mr. Dismount stopped for a smoke break, then it's nose to the grindstone; literally
I´m not really the OpenFeint kind of guy. But don´t other games (eg Lion Pride) include your previous records? I don´t want to erase my old records. I´d be number one on the downward spiral and I don´t think I can ever do better than that. So I have to choose: I can keep my very good old score and probably never have anything in the online leaderboard or I give up my old record. Well, great game anyway. Thanks to Secret Exit. Keep up the good work. I´m excited to see new levels in the future.
At first people were enjoying this random element, what happened to that? It's not supposed to be the exact same result every single time, that's why it never gets dull. So sometimes Mr. Dismount wants to hang on for dear life and save a few bones, big deal.
I actually am one of the ones who fall on this side of the coin. I like that his hands stick to things now and then, especially when it results in him swinging from something. I'm LOVING the update. Loose Binding and The Ledge rock, but I'm not quite as sold on Mt. Dismount. I never seem to get any good dismounts on that one. Let's just hope SE is working on even more levels for this great little time drain.
