Anybody? This looks like an interesting game, but it also looks like a very niche game, and I've been burned before by obscure games that expect you to know the controls and goals already. Is it a title I can just jump into?
Maybe it's a niche game in the sense that it won't suit everyone for sure. But talking about simplicity, I think the game is quite simple: move from planet to planet, trade with goods which you can find on planets, and destroy ships that appear. Controls are easy, mission goals are as easy as "go to planets X, Y, Z". IMO you can jump into this game easily.
Exactly VBF!!! When I buy my ship I would like to see where is the cockpit in the 3D visualization of the model.
Can you reveal more about what new features you are including? I love the game, so simple so addictive and the first time the other ships shot at me, man that was a great moment!!
I'm currently including the presence of mysterious ancient monoliths on planets, which emit a radio signal that allows you to detect and find them...(look at the new bottom left hud display). I can't tell more for the moment!
Cool! I'm really, really looking forward to dig in those mysterious objects in the planets! Btw, all the planets I find say "Lifeforms: no". Are there planets with lifeforms?
Ok ok, I should have checked the spelling of ODYSSEY prior to posting that... It could have been worse though. I could still have mistaken the last Y for an I...
Hi Virtual, honestly: no lifeforms for now. But it has to be done in a future update! I have to solve some problems (like how to represent lifeforms, and its diversity, on screen etc...)
Lifeforms can be represented in many different usual and not so usual ways. Make a Google search for "Ascendancy" and check their different images to represent races in their 4X game. Maybe some static images when you find an alien race, talking to you and giving you some clues/game info would be nice (coordinates of interesting planets, of resources in that planet, etc.). In "Out There Omega Edition" it's how they're represented.
Just bought this I just bought this based on the descriptions in this thread. I like this, it has the exploration vibe I'm looking for. seems fairly easy to get into once you get what all the display elements and colors mean. I take it the game saves when you dock at a station?
Played some more So I played some more and like it more as I get into it farther. Did a bit of mining and then selling. Have about 27000 credits now. A few questions and comments. iPad Air 128gb. Latest iOS version. I like the red line tracing back through the systems visited back to your starting system in the nav map. It would be nice to be able to zoom out on this map. Also if you could touch and drag the nav map sideways. Rotating is nice, but being able to rotate about the other axis also would be really nice. If I land on a planet, I will see red dots indicating resources. I have seen up to three dots at once upon landing. Once they are mined is further exploration worth it, will I find more stuff after traveling a while on a planet? Do resources respawn eventually? Sometimes after loading and landing on a planet again it is counted as discovered again. I have landed on only two planets but I have 4 indicated as discovered because of this. Once upon leaving a station I had a graphical glitch where the skip circle was present and not the skip text. Thebgame would never exit the landing sequence. Touching the screen where the fire button usually is present resulted in weapons fire. Nothing else worked though. Exit and restart fixed it. Grid based planet travel is kind slow, it takes a while to actually move after touching the controls. Is this because the planet surface is being generated as you travel? All in all I really like it. It is a very nice relaxing game. Look forward to further refinement and updates.
